yote with the 204 T3 lite

Noticed this fella at the back of the house just off of the trout pond. By the time I grabbed the 204 T3 lite he had wandered 250 yds out to where my "meatsicle" was set up (just set it up on Saturday)  Let the games begin. Smacked him with a 38 grain wildcat, 4 spins and he was done. Entrance was just a touch smaller than a quarter, no exit, insides like "jello".

Nice yote!  Whacking a yote gives one a sense of accomplishment--different than other varmits--perhaps because they are so cunning.  Love that .204!!

Good going, but you may want to change bullets if you had a quater size intrence hole. With that buttet a hit any where except in the ribs will never kill one. From what I have seen posted most of the serious coyote hunters using the .204 are shooting Berger bullets. The Sierra bullets have a jacket of .009 and the Hornady have a jacket of .014.

The main staple for my "meatsicle" is cheap dog food. I use a large plastic garbage container, add dog food, used cooking oil, and basically food scraps. Mix it all up with water and let it freeze solid. Once frozen, I pour hot water on the outside of the tub so that the plastic lets go of the contents. I then use my quad (weighs about 150 to 200 lbs) to haul er away, tip it upside down, a couple of gentle taps with a hammer and wa'lla, "meatsicle". 
 I consider myself as doing my part to save the environment with less garbage going to the landfill.

I've used just about all of the available bullets for my 204's and most of my yotes were taken with the 35 and 40 gr bergers. The 38 gr "wildcat" is very similar to the berger but I believe it has a thicker jacket and is not affected as much by wind and drop as the bergers.Here are some photos I took comparing them with some others. I lined them up from tallest to shortest. The boxes in the background are the order that the standing bullets are in. The two laying down are the 48 and 38gr WC. I took one from overhead to compare the hollow points. The 48 gr is quite long. I bought 6 boxes of 38's and only one box of 48 gr.

I am itching to try out my new Savage model 12 in the .204 caliber for use on coyotes! I have heard a lot about the caliber and seen with my own eyes, people shooting these cal rifles at the gun club with excellent results. Most shots have been less than 1/2 inch MOA from the bench at 100 yds. So we shall see in a couple of weeks, when some friends and I get together for a hunt.

I love seeing pictures of what the .204 Ruger does to coyotes  I got lots that I have collect to show when someone says, that aint a big enough bullet.

I ran across a Rem predator rifle and was wondering if you loose the benifit of seeing bullet impact with the 204 without a bull barrel. It's used and wondered why they got rid of it. May get it How does it work in the lighter barrel, besides the obvious dead yotes. I don't want anymore heavy guns. Thanks

I live out in "Central Alberta", Canada. Had a stretch of really cold weather the last couple of weeks. -40 deg. Never have used the 5 gallon pails. I like to make my "meatsickles" a nice hefty size so the yotes can't drag it away.
As for the lighter barrel, I can still see the impacts with the T3 lite . I love my heavy barrels but not for chasing yotes anymore. My heavy barrels will now be used as bench guns punching paper and vaporizing p-dogs.

Accuracy has been very impressive in all three of my 204's

Thanks gube, great pictures. I'd like being able to see the bullet hit with a light weight gun.
