Topper M48 16 Gauge (external hammer) pic added
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:16:07 PM »
I saw a 16 gauge in a local shop today for $89.95.  It has a nice looking real walnut stock and the bluing is perfect.  The case colors are a little faded.  Do you think it's worth it?  It seems just a tiny bit loose when open but not at all when closed.

Here's the M48 16 gauge I bought yesterday.  It looks like it was never fired.  I paid $89.95.  It has no serial number.

That is a great looking gun and what a great price. Not to mention a very fine tool in the field.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

That's a great looking gun, Swampman.  I've been on the lookout for one like it, or something like the 1908 H & R that my brother snapped up last year for a similar price.  The 16 is a great guage.  I've got a Baikal side-by-side that I take bird hunting, and have tried it on trap.  For the latter purposes it works about as good as my 12, but with less weight and recoil. If you've got a beagle or bassett hound to go with that gun, you'll have plenty of fun rabbit hunting.

I got one of them, exactly like yours!!  A buddie gave it to me as "payment" for helping he get going in Bullseye shooting.

Good luck wit yours!

That is a great looking shotgun! And a hell of a deal to boot. Those are walnut stocks too, aren't they? Sure looks like it.
