45-70 cast bullets?
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:04:54 PM »
I’m getting a stainless encore 45-70 barrel soon and would like to reload my own rounds. It looks like most people are using some type of cast bullets. Could someone steer me in the right direction for reloading this round. Just started reloading this year.
Thanks

I'm also going to be reloading for a 45-70 and won't be using cast bullets.  I'll be using modern jacketed bullets which are easily obtained from the major bullet manufacturers.

I suggest you get your barrel slugged unless you can do it yourself to get the correct size cast bullet.

Depending on whether you wish to hunt or plink or both, purchase a box or two of commercial cast bullets. There is a good number to choose from, have fun.
