barrel,caliber question

Why don't you/we/I see more 6.5 JDJ Contender barrels and die sets for sale not here or on any other sites ?  Is it because of the proprietary chambering ? The love of the caliber ?  open for input.....Shane

I think for both reasons.   Under that moniker so far they can still only be chambered by JD (although a close copy could be made and called something else like was done with the 375JDJ/375-444 for years).   I've had two 6.5JDJ barrels, and it is a fun little wildcat.   In my case I liked my two 257JDJ's better though (probably because my 6.5 Super Bower is my favorite in that caliber).  I've had several other JDJ calibers over the years as well, but my all time favorite from JD was the four 375JDJ barrels I've had.    Mine have all been SSK barrels, not rechambers.

     I bought my 6.5JDJ used about 20 years ago and have never seen another one since on the used market.  Anybody who gets mine will have to inherit it and my oldest son is first in line there.  When I found mine I grabbed(literally) and asked how much I owed.  He was kind!    I haven't yet gotten my .375JDJ , so I can't compare, but I do have a 309 that I'm very partial to but the 6.5 is still no.1 here.  Walt

I found a 14" SSK 6.5JDJ with die set recently on another site and it will not be hitting the market anytime soon. I had been wanting one for years and the hard thing to believe is the guy had been trying to sell it for months with no takers and his price was very low. I only have about 60 rounds through it right now but it has lived up to all the hype. It's very accurate and effective on the local whitetails. I am really interested to see if the case life is as good as everyone says it is. I hate to buy a bunch of 225 Winchester if the cases are going to last 10+ loadings.

I guess I kinda got the cart in front of the horse--I found a fella in a local classified mag. advertising .225 Win.brass for sale-- get this....brand new/never primed in the older Winchester boxes.... got three boxes for $15.00,didn't feel like driving to pick them up-paid $5.00 USPS 1st class to my door--couldn't have drove there that cheap.  So....I'm ahead at least that far.

 I am lookin for a used barrel,but the call to SSK may have to be made(after Christmas of course)
