Wow, it amazes me the degree to which some will go to deny that some soldiers are doing good.
1. I never blindly defended the decision to go to war, in fact I said the opposite may be true
2. I never questioned anyone's patriotism
You have resulted to insults "shut yer mouth", to rash assumptions, "he wasn't infantry", to straw-man arguments, "don't ask me to feel sorry for him", back to insults, "pawn, lemming"; all to disprove that there might be some soldiers doing good things. I would think that as someone who is obviously disillusioned with their service and feels let down, you would appreciate hearing about some hopeful situations that others went through.
Not all soldiers are dupes or pawns who mindlessly follow. Maybe that was you, and you saw some horrible things that woke you up. I admire you for your willingness to go, regardless. BUT THERE ARE SOME SOLDIERS WHO KNOW FULL WELL WHAT THEY ARE GETTING INTO AND BELIEVE IN THE MISSION, AND STILL CHOOSE TO GO; therefore they are not pawns.
---- I really don't know why because of your experience you are so eager to assume the worst about a situation where you weren't and a group of soldiers you don't know. Did it ever occur that out of 100,000+ troops in two different conflicts that someone might have had a different experience than you?
There is a middle ground between blind patriotism and assuming your government is evil, conspiring against you, etc. Other soldiers and civilians have seen the same news, and been in the same conflicts as you guys. I am willing to accept that ya'll came to different conclusions based on what you've seen, read, experienced, etc. Why can't you accept the same of me without calling names?
(idiot, lemming, etc.)?
