SNOW IN HOUSTON
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:28:17 AM »
It is snowing as I speak---earliest in History--and two in two years.
Now this may not excite some of you snowbirds--and it really doesn't excite me either---too cold.
It is not sticking right now but the forecast is for about two inches and start holding this afternoon.
Folks, I just got to find a warmer clime.

Send the snow up here. I haven't gone cross country skiing in years because there hasn't been enough snow in my part of sunny Minnesota.

Up here, there are two kinds of snow fall: the first one, and all the rest. The first one is when everybody learns to drive in snow again and it can be a bit hectic. The others just slow traffic down. It really doesn't matter how much snow there is, it can be 1 inch or 18 inches. It has about the same effect on traffic. At least until it gets too deep for cars to drive on, then there's a quantum change where people have to help each other get un-stuck.

The big advantage we have is that we're set up for it with snow plows and other municipal organization around clearing the roads. It's also cold enough so that when it does get cold it's usually cold enough so we don't have to worry about rain glazing everything over, thus making a very bad situation.

I went and got my grandaughter from school early.
Now some of you boys are gonna laugh---but---this is the first time in my life that it has snowed during the day and it stuck---never saw this before---always been at night.
What to od---OH---what to do. nobdy down here sells snow tires and I got no chains---didn't lay up provisions for the winter.
OH WELL, I guess I will just wait until tomorrow---will probably be sixty degrees then.
Blessings

I get delighted when you good folks from the South have a 2" inch snowstorm. You remember 2" inches of snow in December, and I remember as a kid wading through snow up to my waist in April while finding treasures at Easter Egg hunts. ;D But on the other hand, I lived down in San Antonio for awhile, and upon a January arrival there, I was very fascinated to find people mowing their lawns at that time of the year, not to mention the palm trees. I thought I was in paradise. ;)

Yea Al Gore. Would you mind explaining this one? Oh, that's right. You won't. "The debate is over!" Or so
you said.
