300 Weatherby load
« on: December 04, 2009, 05:50:05 AM »
My father is going elk hunting next fall so I decided to work up some loads for him. He has a Weatherby MKV in 300 Weatherby Mag. I picked up a box of 180grn Barnes triple shock bullets and planned on using the H4350 that I have. When I looked for data it seems like everyone has data for the Barnes TSX 150 but not for the 180. I found load data for the speer 180 grain SPBT with the H4350 but but not the Barnes. Could I used that data with the Barnes as a starting point?

I would bet that the staff at Barnes will gladly assist you.  Shoot them an email or give them a call.

Yes you could as long as you start at the lower part of the recommended load range.

Here's the Barnes data for the Weatherby.

H4350 isn't listed, but the data from my Barnes manual # 4 is:

180 TSX BT:
 H4350.............Start 70.5 gns for 2888
 H4350.............Max  76.0 gns for 3088
Cartridge OAL: 3.560"
