Has there ever been a handi offered, or any plans for one in 7mm mag?

It almost happened a little over a year ago that recollect and about the time Marlin was selling out it's interest to Remington and it got close but never got off the ground.

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

I believe it was because of the belted cartridge and chamber pressures, as discussion has come up before concerning a couple of other cartridges as well that are belted.  About the only way your going to get close, is with the 280 Rem AI cartridge AKA 7mm Express cartridge which is my next larger cartridge purchase BTW because of this very reason.  I like the .284 dia as it has better sectional density than the .308 dia and is also a good flat shooter and when loaded with the right bullet  :D

A 26" 280AI can come pretty close to a 22" 7mm Mag, and some of the longer body / shorter neck versions like 7mm Gibbs and 7mm JRS will take you as far as you can reasonably go in a Handi. All it takes is a chamber reamer, a 280 Handi, and some dies. If you go with the true 40° 280AI, you can get relatively cheap Lee dies, the Gibbs, JRS, etc will likely cost you a pretty penny for dies.

280 Imp would work on the 7mm-08, but the 22" barrel isn't the best choice, a 26" Ultra makes a dandy 7mmMag wantabe, I get good accuracy and velocities approaching 3200fps with the 140gr TSX.
