Was the cop black?  There must be some reason why they specified that the suspect was white.  In the Lakewood, Washington ordeal, I never heard once that the perp was a black guy.

It's probably just because there are a lot of blacks and whites in that area and it is common to first give minimal indication of race in that area.

B'ham is basically a black town. The whites have fled the inner city and turned it over to blacks. They are totally in control. The mayor is black, the police chief is black, half or more of the city council is black. If you aren't black you can't get elected in B'ham. Most of the police force is black. It is a black run town.

In addition to being the largest city in the state it and the county (also the largest in the state) are basically bankrupt. The former mayor is in jail on federal corruption charges. I think he was convicted on several hundred counts. The interim mayor who replaced him was black and has already been removed for corruption. They replaced him with a fat black woman who is more crooked than both of them combined. She will likely be elected in the soon to be held special election.

The whole mess is just one cesspool of corrution and crime.

Yep, B-ham is a very violent place.   Not sure of the race of the cop.  The scumbag is a pharmacist, believe it or not.  The perp and his off duty cop brother, who aided and abetted him after the fact, have been arrested.

The man suspected of slaying a Pelham police officer is the brother of a Trussville police officer, authorities said today.

Both the officer and the accused shooter were taken into custody early this morning at Interstate 65 at U.S. 31 by the Hoover Police, authorities said. The men left the Hoover Police Department about 8 a.m. today en route to the Shelby County Jail in Columbiana.

A preliminary investigation shows that after the shooter killed the officer at 11:50 p.m. during a traffic stop in Pelham -- part of which was caught on video tape -- he fled to the Inglenook area in east Birmingham, police said. He was apparently trying to break into a car when someone noticed him, and the suspected shooter showed a gun and waved him back inside.

A short time later, police said, the suspect's brother, the Trussville officer, picked him up in his own truck.

The cop killer had everything going for him.  The guy was pretty well off for a 29 year old.  Now they are saying that he "may have been a pharmacist."  Bet  the guy was heavy into recreational pharmaceuticals.

BTW:  The cop and the killer are both white.

They released the killers brother. He was taking him back to Pellem to turn himself in. Pellem is a town on the outskirts of Birmingham. That is where the killing took place. The guy had no criminal record, just some traffic tickets.
Both he and his wife are pharmacist."  He had kids a nice home and the whole nine yards. Why he killed the cop ,no one knows.

Prolly cuz he had a load of illegal drugs on board and the cop found out about it and he did it to prevent being arrested. Or he was high on drugs/alcohol and didn't wanna be caught. The mind of those kinda folks sorta work that way.

Now why a successful person such as him would be involved in such in the first place I dunno but I'd not rule that out as motive for now.

Hey we have a former governor in prison now for illegal deals he made with rich B'ham crooks while governor. He's still crying about being innocent and trying to get a new trial but he's in prison as are the crooks he was in league with. Kinda like that B'ham mayor who's even gone so far as to try to get the obamination to pardon him while still professing his innocence and asking for a new trial. B'ham is a corrupt place and is full of bad folks doing bad things.

Sounds like the pharmacist was on meth.  Meth addicts do some really bad stuff.  We had a fireman high on meth who was stopped by an OK state trooper who smelled meth cooking in the guys trunk.  The doper overpowered trooper Nick Green and killed him with his own service pistol.

alsaqr That just don't make sense. As a pharmacist this guy had access to all the safe drugs he would want, so why would he take a dangerous and quite possibly lethal drug like meth?
I think if the truth comes out you will some sort of personal conflict between these two guys.
Maybe the cop pulled over his wife and offered her a trade. All this guy has to do is go through there well above the speed limit and he will find the cop.  Cops do this every day. They are not always right, unless it is in court where for some reason his word is better than yours.

Yeah, he did have access to all kinds of legal dope.  This part of OK used to be the meth capitol of the world.  Folks from every walk of life have been addicted to meth; doctors, lawyers, ditch diggers, housewives and school kids.  .

The nutcase had quite a few traffic tickets.  There is a good chance that whatever he was high on put him over the edge when that cop lit him up.

Maybe the perp was left too long in a dirty diaper, maybe his big brother peed in his wheaties,  maybe the school bully tweaked his nose, maybe his mistress threw him over for a bum.  Yep, it is everyone's fault except for the scumbag who murdered the cop.

At this point none of us know what caused this killing. You assume he was on drugs, I think there is likely a personal conflict. One of us might be right, then again we may both be very wrong.
As it is we have two dead men, they will put a needle in the killer. He killed a cop. If it were a regular citizen he would get life and be paroled in about eight years.
