Death of my retriever, Muffin Marie
« on: December 05, 2009, 04:02:17 AM »
I see her yet in soundless dreams,
And when I wake it surely seems
That she was here just as before,
Asleep and safe at the kitchen door.

That yellow dog, those years ago,
Ran through my life, soft eyes aglow.
And on she ran with the part of me
That died in the loss of Muffin Marie.

Mike,
I come back to your poem often, and every time I do my eyes mist up remembering several good dogs who ran through different parts of my life.  My current dog is going to be the toughest to get over.  She's very young, however, and I could possibly go before she does.
Thank you for the poem and the memories.
Thanks for the stump

The older I get, the better I was.
