Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich.
WASHINGTON – December 3 – Following a speech on the Floor of the House of Representative, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) made the following statement:
“America is in the fight of its life and that fight is not in Afghanistan — its here. We are deeply in debt. Our GDP is down. Our manufacturing is down. Our savings are down. The value of the dollar is down. Our trade deficit is up. Business failures are up. Bankruptcies are up.
“The war is a threat to our national security. We’ll spend over one $100 billion next year to bomb a nation of poor people while we reenergize the Taliban, destabilize Pakistan, deplete our army and put more of our soldiers’ lives on the line. Meanwhile, back here in the USA, 15 million people are out of work. People are losing their jobs, their health care, their savings, their investments, and their retirement security. $13 trillion in bailouts for Wall Street, trillions for war; when are we going to start taking care of things here at home.

Well ole Dennis is right, but he like the others in the Republican party had their chance and did nothing with it. His speech sounds real good, but where was he 8 years ago, when the Republicans were in charge. His speech is too little, too late.

oh the republican party was protecting capitalism by favoritism and corporatism (corporatism is the cornerstone of fascism- maybe number two to being run by total mafia goons)

I'll admit I still vote mostly republican though... (not straight ticket though, just conservative moral issues and pro-gun people)

Dennis Koldspinach is a flaming socialist and anyone who takes his advice is no better than those who believe in what the Kenyan says.

Yes, we need to get our finances fixed and a whole lot of other things in this country, but if we think that the terrorists will just stop and leave us alone if we ignore them....

I still say that a very good first step we need to take is to secure our borders and get rid of all the illegals.  That might not fix everything, but it would be a start.  I know for sure that it would open up a lot of roofing jobs and locally, a fairly large chicken processing plant would have to hire a whole new work force.  Of course the hospital ER room would be a lot lonelier place.

Every once in a while Kucinich gets it right, as in this case. It's important to remember that he is a member of the left wing of the left wing of American politics. He will always have an anti-war message.

the left isn't anti-war, the left is anti-wasting military might to go abroad when the people at home aren't behaving.  there's right wing extremists to go round up HERE!  better pack up and redeploy to missouri to get all those evil religious and gun-toting white guys .....

at least obama is too stupid to manage that.. can't even organize the troops he's got on ops now.  don't think he won't use some trinity church/vodun/sufi magic on us though.....

Well congratulations Dennis you have identified the symptoms. You and all of your ilk have refused to identify the problem, nor will you administer the cure. Enact legislation that removes the impediments to domestic manufacture, and quit spending all of the money you can foresee in any and all future economic situations.

Tax and spend is no longer enough for these clowns now it's borrow and spend. Payday Loan, er China, is gonna come and demand all of our offshore drilling rights to repay our debt, or maybe they will settle for the deed to Yosemite National Park.

The problem with the American Government and our people is we are all living beyond our means. The American people feel that they can put anything on a credit card and pay for it later. They feel like it is free money. The government is no different execpt they feel hey we will just print more. This whole thing is comming to head real soon. Dale
