7mm IHMSA

Anyone ever use BLC2 powder in their 7 mm IHMSA? I know w748 is the chosen powder but I have some BLC2 I want to use up. Any experiences good or bad?

Burn rate is so similar it should work well. In fact I've heard rumors they are same but have no confirmation of that. Finding load data would be practically impossible I'd think.

Hornady 5th Edition on page 579 shows both for use with 162 bullets but doesn't show BL-C2 with lighter bullets. It shows effectively the same max charge 38.7 vs 38.8 grains but shows they got 100 fps less with BL-C2. Personally I still think they are the same just as are H110-W296 and in the .223 I find performance of them to be basically identical. When and where I see both listed the load data for them is always very very close as above.

In the 7MM International it is shown with data for both using 154 grain bullets and they show a full grain more BL-C2 giving identical velocity to W748. Both are again shown in use with the 7 BR Remington but here they show using multiple grains more of BL-C2 and again only with the heavier bullets do they show data for BL-C2.

An experienced reloader could use that information and work from it. I'd not recommend assuming you can read pressure signs to determine when you have exceeded safe pressure limits however.
