Pedersoli 45/70 Double question
« on: December 06, 2009, 05:48:07 AM »
I recently got to handle a Pedersoli 45/70 Double rifle (Kodiak?) at a gunshow.
The experience haunts me.
I'd like to know if anyone here has knowledge or personal information about this gun and the use of hi-power ammunition like the stuff often used in the Marlin or Browning rifles?
No need for specific load data, I can figure it out if you can say the weight of the bullet, the [known] velocity.
I've shot hi-power 45/70 in the Marlin for many years and the bullet weight & velocity will give me the info I crave.
Thanks.

If I remeber right they were rated for 28000 psi or trap door loads only!

Cecil is right. The doubles won't take the pressures the marlin will.  :) Those doubles sure feel good though, don't they.

Thanks guys,
Its tempting still. That Pedersoli did feel nice.
At 28,000 CUP you can apply a lot of smack-down to a beast with properly assembled loads.
Hmmm.

BTW, Marlin has always claimed that their model 1895 is "rated" for SAAMI specs only, (28,000 CUP) but we all know better.
