Need info on 7mm H&h flanged
« on: December 07, 2009, 06:04:32 AM »
I have been unable to determine if the 7mm H&H flanged is the same cartridge as the 275 H&H flanged. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks much!

Well, the best I can do for ya is look in the book Cartridges of the World. They make no mention of a 7mm H&H flanged but there is a 275 H&H flanged. And according to them it does take a .284 bullet. The only flanged 7mm that I see is the rigby. The 275 No.2 is also called the 7mm Rigby Magnum Flanged. I know it wasn't much help but I tried.   Dave

According to RCBS they are different. They make two different custom dies for them. I just can't seem to find any info on the 7mm flanged to tell you what the difference is.   Dave

I've done a little more searching and my second post is wrong. I saw the belted 275 h&h not the flanged. I'm leaning toward the 7mm h&h flanged and the 275 h&h flanged being the same round. Why?  Because the british don't name their cartridges using a metric designation. I believe that the round was called the 7mm flanged after it reached europe.    Dave
