My Sons First Deer
« on: December 07, 2009, 10:26:31 AM »
This is a pic of my 13 year old sons first deer.
We were hunting south of Valera, Tx. He shot it in the neck at a ranged 215 yards with his 270 Winchester. 7 point , dressed out at 120lbs. Not too shaby for a first deer. I think i was just as or more excited as he was, lol.

WESTTX4570,

Nice deer and I know you are proud of that boy of yours.  I hunt not far from you, just north of Winters and west of 153.  Nice buck for that country.

Shvlhead,
Our leases are not too far away from each other. We are at the end of 344 off of 503 south of Valera, north of the soil conservation resevoir 7, which we can see from our blind on the north end of the dam.

Big Nasty,
Had both my boys shooting since they could hold a gun, and both are becoming crack shots. I have to practice all the time just to stay ahead of them.

Thank you both for all your positive inputs, I am very proud of both of them. Just have to concentrate on getting my 10 year old one now, he cant stand it, lol. Good luck to both.

WESTTX4570,

You are right about the leases being close.  My lease is off SH 153 just north of Winters.  I see the sign Valera when I'm going to the lease, it's a land mark.

Good hunting,

From the look on his face, he is hooked!  Congrats to him on a very n ice first buck, and good for you teaching your son to hunt and shoot very well.
