China executes securities trader who embezzled millions

BEIJING — China executed Tuesday the former manager of a securities company who embezzled millions of dollars — the first execution of an executive from the communist country's financial sector, state media said.

Some wanted Yang Yanming kept alive so he would explain where the 65 million yuan ($9.5 million) went, news reports said. Yang refused to tell.

China has also executed government officials in its long-running fight against corruption, which is a major source of anger among the country's citizens.

The Beijing Evening News said Yang was the first person from a Chinese securities company to be executed.

``Someone has to take responsibility in this case,'' the 51-year-old Yang told a court in Beijing on Tuesday.

Yang served as general manager of the Beijing securities trading department of the China Great Wall Trust and Investment Corp. from 1997 to 2003.

Well, let me tell you, I worked in China a while back.....spent 18 months there.

So, I can tell you, it was a kangaroo court, and without what we would consider due process of law.

i know but i think their solution would go a long way in reducing the outright theft by these slugs that had a lot to do with the current situation we find ourselves in. start shooting those %$#$ and it might slow down the theft.

if just people establish such totalitarian power then the successors lined up to lead the next generation will have their ranks packed with the elite and power-hungry to corrupt it

that's of course assuming that the one's in charge aren't already at least semi-corrupt, which is always the case ANYWHERE AND AT ANYTIME. america's problem is not the inability to punish the immoral office holders, it's fractured identity and purpose among the american people who fight in a tug of war between liberal and conservative factions every election---- ONLY BIG GOVERNMENT WINS, it's called the third way.

Well, I'm no in favor of executing people, but I can understand why they would do it. It's consistent with history.

It this country I'd like to see politicians be held accountable for their deeds. The current immunity only emboldens them to do crazy stuff.

china has the right idea all right..for them.. they are bleeding the free market in the U.S. dry ..this with a labor force with no right to argue salary or anything else..we should have never allowed that labor force ,,still under absolute control ,to compete with the U.S. labor .. jmo slim

I agree slim. We have become a debtor, consumer nation, and they have become a producer, note holder nation. Our note.

China also killed the guy for the paint deal on toys . Shame really since the paint was to the buyers spec. it was found out later.
No China does it their way not our way for sure . I wish it were done like we did it years ago , well some of it anyway . Pay as you go would solve many problems really both private and govt.

many years ago i was told ...."if you decide to be a crook do not go rob a 7-11 for 35 dollars get a job at a bank and embezzel a million. you will go to jail for life in Texas for one and go for 6 months in Club Fed for the other.

thats the problem these guys crush the lives of thosands of people and get 6 months to 10 years and they are most out in three. no sir sign me up and i will shoot them gladly and rid the earth of the worthless ones. thes guys know that the penalyties are nothing compared to the rewards.

There was a time when a man who was considering stealin any livestock in Texas would or should give it considerable thought before he did it. He knew the certain end if caught.

accountability is armed citizens organizing a mutiny... charging into congress and having a good bit of "sport" with them

the question isn't who's willing to give up their lives to do it (none of us), but how much more can we take before people snap, and "who's first"?

I wonder if the million man march might be repeated after the welfare state fails? Might get violent?

so congress has castle doctrine? shame the rest of dc does not.

huge nations have huge riots.... and obama is getting a lot of people very upset. his conspirators are pulling a lot of strings that are upsetting people on the other end. if he DOES actually show his "progressive" hand and try to step up the government's pace of growth he might find a lot of those people are willing to riot. louis farrakhan got a lot of people to show up just by griping on tv years back.... why not now (not him necessarily but someone like him)

to stop the anti s .. our very individual freedom of choice as to how we live ,,depends on it..
i know some can t see this but the right to bear arms was added by our forefathers ,,to allow people of our time a chance to stave off those who want absolute population control..but its up to us to do it or surrender individual freedom....slim..

government oversight and interference turns into co-operation later

corporatism blurs the lines and at this point I think the factions just fight it out, not really belonging to one side or the other by anything other than a technicality. at least they have to fight each other instead of being co-ordinated. seperation of powers works... not in a pretty fashion though. money vs government, stalemate.. until judicial activists get involved and let things that shouldn't fly "take-off"
