After more than two years of looking I finely found a new 9.3x74R. Toke it out hunting and missed the first shot on a doe.
I jerked the trigger and missed the deer clean. That 5lbs trigger
simply did not repond to a gentle squeese. So I brought out the 7x57 #1 and got my doe the next day.
A week after I uncased my Handi in 257 Roberts and bagged a big 9 point buck a monster over 200lbs. Today I stripped the 9.3x74R down and stoned the trigger. First try I got down to 39oz. Not too bad but I will take it appart again and stone some more to get it down to 30oz.
That is a fine caliber and not abusive on recoil and the rifle is very accurate. With a lighter trigger the rifle is a lot more accurate since the let off is more gentle and you are not cramping your hand and finger and slamming the trigger.
I put on an older 3-9 Burris 3-9 in the Ruger rings this adds 1.5lbs to the weight of the rifle for a total of 8.75lbs.
My 6.5x284 #1 has a Kepplinger single set trigger and that makes precise shooting a dream. So I now I have two things to think about the safty and the set trigger, you need to get used to that idea and follow a repetitive procedure. Safety off first then set the trigger. Safty on and unset trigger.
The Handi trigger system is hard to beat for speed if yo have a finely tuned trigger with a modified return spring.
