I like Shilen, I have 2 rifle with them and just recently got a Shaw.  I like the Shilen better, but I've shot them more.

The best barrel for my money is an Adam and Bennett.  I haven't owned one yet that wasn't a tack-driver.  A lot cheaper than the high end ones too.  I did recently pick up a 25" Schneider for my 300 win mag.  I'll be curious to see how it shoots.

PACNORE makes a nice barrel also.
I had one done up in 225 Win and put on one of my old Rem model 30S EXPRESS actions with a new Richards Micro fit stock.
It is a #5 heavy sporter, 28" long.
Came out really nice.
Shoots really good with factory ammo.
5 shots under a quarter is standard.
This has been several years ago but IIRC it cost about $149.00.
I have been very pleased with it.

Let see  right now have Broughton,Shilen,Hart,Bartlein,Krieger,K&P,Lilja,Chanlynn,Lawton and Pac-Nor and I still have one rifle with a McMillian barrel only one not in business today is K&P,McMillian barrels was purchased by Wiseman.

Spence,Schneider,Brux,Benchmark,Rock,H&S,Obermeyer,Gaillard all make nice barrels used some of them in the past.

If you have a rifle build and use a good barrel and you shoot it and your happy with it then it's a good barrel.

I don't select a barrel on cost I look more at how it perform with bullets I want to shoot and I like the idea I get to select twist/rifling/contour/length/bore,groove dia.

I have tried various aftermarket rifle barrels in various calibers, including the following:
Lilja
Douglas
Pac-Nor
Schneider
Shilen

All of the above rifle barrels have delivered excellent precision. Having said that, I now focus on value - the best bang for the buck - and use Pac-Nor. Chris Dichter, the owner, is great to work with, he makes barrels that shoot better than I can, provides good turnaround time and is a little less expensive than the other guys. I use his barrels on my hunting and High Power Silhouette rifles.

I have no relationship whatsoever with Pac-Nor, other than being a satisfied customer.
