Buffalo Classic sights

Hello, new member and first post. I just recently purchased a BC 45-70. Can someone explain the sights. It came with 8 apetures that I'm guessing you use with the front sight. Why would you change these out? This site has a lot of good information. Thank you for this.

All depends on target,light and weather,long range shooters use all kinds.

First off, WELCOME!
The interchangeable sights are supplied to allow you to use whatever you feel works best for you under various conditions. If this is your first H+R rifle you might want to do some reading at the Faq's and Help. http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,26264.0.html There is a wealth of knowledge that was thankfully collected  by a few members and contributed to by many, that is only available here.

My new BC arrived today at WalMart. I saw immediately that the front sight is too high. Why does H&R go out of their way to use the wrong front sight? I had already planned to get a Williams FP for the rear, but the front will still be too high. Makes me mad. I mean I can understand using a fairly cheap guide sight for the rear, but to deliberately mate it with a front sight that is way the heck to high, makes no sense to me at all. Bottom line, I have to change both sights, and from what I've read here, the front sight is a real bear to get off.
