the bill of rights

quartering of troops and search and seizure....... no troops stomping around over here please.  armed citizens can handle themselves.  also we have a police force that is super pc and won't cause lots of collateral damage (depending on where you live I suppose, in some places the cops are scary)

For those whom might not know. The Constitution is what the government CANNOT DO. The Bill of Rights is what the government CAN DO, "AFTER DUE PROCESS OF LAW".

Generally, armed citizens can handle themselves.  Particularly if the criminal element knows that all citizens are armed. But, that is not the case. I would just be happy with a police/military presence hanging out on the corner in the bad neighborhoods.  The last thing I had to deal with today was a little girl at a Boys and Girls Club. She was doing her homework at a table in the building and was shot in the head. This was six hours ago. This is real. Just because you are underprivledged or because your are black (or any other color) does not mean you should not be safe.

That little girl cannot arm herself. If you question my story, check out WLBT, WJTV, WAPT and The Clarion-Ledger in the morning.  It should be on all of their websites.

Cops being scary? Yea, plenty of them are. I know lots of good ones, I know more that appear to have barely passed high school.

Wow, this has gotten WAY off topic.

I for one DON'T WANT the military standing on street corners in bad neighborhoods. The government, once it takes something, I have never known it to give it back. Street corners would turn into streets, and streets into neighborhoods.
It's happening fast enough without that happening.
If a neighborhood is bad, it's because the neighbors in it, are sitting on their butts not doing anything. A revolt can come in many forms and doesn't necessarily have to be a country in revolt. A neighborhood, can revolt by saying: Ya know what? I'm tired of the crap goin on in my neighborhood. I'm gettin with my neighbors and together we're gonna help the police clean this mess up on our streets. We're gonna start takin our streets back by testifying as witnesses, callin in crime, and HELPING OURSELVES!
Many of these "bad neighborhoods" are poor because they chose to be poor. They have been in the "system" so many years, that they want someone else to do the dirty work. In most cases the police. And if a police officer makes a bobble, THEN the neighborhood comes out in force, because the officer was white and prejudice.
It is bad that a little girl was shot, but ask yourself. Where were her parents? Where were the shooter's parents? Where did they both live? In the same neighborhood? Hmmmmmm
A revolt or revolution comes from within gentlemen, whether it be country or neighborhood. The people themselves have to get tired of it. They have to take responsibility to protect THEIR OWN homes, THEIR OWN families, THEIR OWN property, THEIR OWN "neighborhoods". THEIR OWN CHILDREN!
We as Americans have let the government TAKE CARE OF OUR BUSINESS, and look where it's gotten us.

Brian, I'm not scolding you, I'm making a suggestion. Why don't you go stand on that street corner? Not alone but, with the people in the neighborhood that LIVE THERE. Strength in numbers. Let everyone know that your tired of the crime. Your city could not afford a police force large enough to clean up every hot spot. The citizenry have a certain responsibility to TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES AND THEIR OWN. Whether it be their family or their neighbors.
It used to be that if someone was causing trouble in a neighborhood, he got a visit from his neighbors. They knew whom he was, and where he lived. Just like I'll bet YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD knows.
Now everyone says: Let some one else do it, AND WE'LL JUDGE THEM AT EVERY TURN. Vigilantism? Hardly! Common sense. ;)
Compare it to a chicken killin dog. The police can't sit at my house 24-7 on the assumption the dog will return. Their my damn chickens. I'LL PROTECT'EM! The police are called to take the "report" of me protectin'em.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Dee and Squib,

boy, there are a lot of thoughts there to digest. And very good ones, at that!

Here's my feeling.  We don't really need a military presence on every street corner.  But, any soldier who comes back to civilian life and wants to work as a police officer should be given the opportunity.  Virtually all police departments are woefully short on manpower and these guys coming back from the land of sand would probably make the best officers ever.  There needs to be federal funding to employ them and help beef up the ranks on a local level. Again, just my opinion.

If our heroes want to come back and work for Homeland Security, the money should be there. Again, just my opinion.

Poor neighborhoods?  The parents may not know any better, that is their world. Their children are a different story.  The little girl I wrote about earlier is named Sanaa, eight-years-old. (Don't ask me to pronounce that) To complicate matters, her cousin of about the same age, burned to death about four hours later in a house fire. (I'm pretty sure they are cousins because everything indicates it. Just did not have time to talk with the arson investigators to verify the actual relationship, though they are related.)  Man, what are the odds of that?

I guess where I am going with this rambling is there are so many problems to focus on right here at home that can be cured with time and effort.  I'm personally thinking about volunteering time to the Boys and Girls Club.  They looked like a group of kids that can be helped and guided out of the "hood". I figure if I get one of these kids off welfare and into college as opposed to dealing drugs, we are all so much better off in the long run.

For someone who ran such a grassroots campaign, why isn't Obama thinking along the same lines instead of bailing out the rich bankers and Wall Street suits? As a half black/white American that the black community looks up to, he sure seems to be blowing some opportunities here at home that would help everyone, regardless of race. Again, just my opinion.

troops on the streetsi for one do not want that. now troops on the border..I am all for it mined buffer zones with warning signs. Machine guns setup every so often. I certainly would go for that.

as far as the citizens takeing their streets back.....everyone here knows what the courts would do to you if you did. calling the cops or photograping even willing testtimoney will not work. come on yall know that why? in these drug ridden inter cities and now even rural backwoos ares it will get you killed. say you might be brave enough maybe me but can then you gaurantee your children walking to school or grandkids playing in the park that they will live to hear you testify?

my grandmother was born in 1881 lived thru and saw many things..i once asked her about the KKK ( its very very big deal where i came from) she told me that the area of Texas was real ruff and the law was not always around. So the KKK was started as a vigilante group and they would come inn the night and take care of the  town bullies or  hang those that were theives and so on. TThen she said it changed they started taking out ordinary citizens and beating the hell out them. hangings became more and more frequent. Particulay the blacks started paying for wrongs done by anyone , sometimes no wrongs were committed they were killed for sport.

my mother died and left me her photo collection and i would like to tell you of three that stick in my mind. one is 9 blacks that were beat so bad you could hardly tell they were humans then hung from the railroad trestle crossing the sabine river. the second is 2 blacks hung from the neches river bridge. the last is a photo of the city limits sign in saratoga texa about 1930-1940 i guess  The top part said Welcome to Saratoga Texas Population (very small i forgot) the last said "NI^%&$% DON'T LET THE SUN SET ON YOUR A^%$

my first wifes family is from there and i spent many a day on bragg road in their home. let me tell you they meant it and probably still do.

the point all of us are sick of the crime the sensless gang related murders innocent little kids dying because some puke wants to show how big a man he his by doing a driveby and killing any and all in the way. untill america wakes up and does in fact celebrate those that would put a stop to that crap it will continue endangering all of us. the truth is the courts have tied the hands of the armed cirizen and will not tolorate antone trying to regain the streets. hell the cops are so bound up by the PC correct bull to the point they are ineffective. they did it because of the abuses of the vigilantes.
i read a lot and i mean alot of history i have read in the last week alone hundreds and hundreds of entire newspapers from 1830 to mostly 1930 some later i can not count how many articles i read where just what you have disccused was indeed done. the citizens banded together to kill lawless men or bring them in. they were the first line of defense for their families and the community. then the law would come after maybe a week later after they had done whatever needed to be done. the papers praised them the courts praised them and the citizens rallied around those who protected them. try it today and you will be in the pen and the crackhead will be doing even more drivebys killing more little kids along with the scum they are trying to kill.

i do not see anyway we will take back these streets not untill it gets so bad all over not just in the cities or on the border.

Damn Redtail! What I would give to sit down and talk about life and issues with you! My grandparents were from that era also. I'm glad you had the opportunity to talk with your grandmother, I did too. How cool is it that we had the chance to talk with someone who saw the first electric light, the first motor carriage and a man walk on the moon! (Well, my grandmothers did, don't know when your's passed away.) Are you still in Texas? Parts of it ain't that far from Mississippi. Maybe one day we'll meet.

to bring our tyrades back to the notion/point of the thread... america has lost it's identity (the citizens/masses) and now the us has a leader that thinks he's a "citizen of the world" so he has no loyalty to the USA- and this whole nation is going to drift hard or go wild like a pin-ball machine with every administration change from now on.  we're screwed  :(

my name is on a fort full of gold.... knox or not I'm still poor.  I'm still paying about 25% of my income to taxes to support a government I don't approve of, headed by a socialist soft-hearted idealist that'll destroy any security net I pay into LONG before I'm even forty let alone sixty something.

obama will bust the nation up real thoroughly before he's out of office.  hopefully the congress will attempt to put the blame on the federal reserve and break it too and actually do SOMETHING good during this recession.

Squib,

unless you make about $20,000 or less, you are paying more than 25% in taxes when you figure it all in. If you pay less, please inform me as to how you are doing it. Face it, you are just angry at the government or any figure of authority.

Even after I told you about Sanaa getting shot and her relative burning to death in a fire, you still worry about you.

Please go do something positive for our country as opposed to mindlessly bitching.

And PLEASE!!! Put me on your "ignore" list. It will be a badge of honor.

I do make about 20,000 per year  :D  I'm 25 and social security is supposed to go bankrupt in ten years or less.

sorry to upset you so badly brian.  before you ignore me and I ignore you... remember that the topic was Obama and his citizenship status.  if you want to talk about some girl you don't know well enough to pronounce or spell her name fine- give us a lead so we can research it and look into it too.  why would I "worry" about dead people?  why would I even assume it's a true account of the story...  and why would I get online and look into any random act of violence in a nation of 1/3 of a billion people?  ::)  you better call up the national guard to man all posts that you don't want them to man on every street corner but not really because you're into guns but don't carry and want someone else to do it but not impede your civil rights?!

clarion-ledger has the only leads I could find... not on google or yahoo strangely

I found nothing about arson.  anyone found anything about a cousin or family member?  also it said the kid was shot on a bus not in the boys and girls club... the story also said the girl got shot in the head with an assault rifle so the details are sketchy.

I think I already gave you the leads... WLBT, WJTV, WAPT, The Clarion-Ledger. No one ever mentioned arson, at least I didn't. (I just never got with the arson investigaters to check out Sanaa's relative's death.) Sorry there is bad info out there on the shooting. I looked at the scene today, don't know how a bus became involved.

Sanaa was shot in the head with a 7.62X39, after the bullet passed through several walls. (Thin walls)

There is clearly a reason why you make $20,000 a year.

yeah, it's because once you mentioned a child being hurt, just one child in a nation of over 300 MILLION- I didn't start crying and then change my mind about the troops and vets and cops stomping and marching down the streets

use spell-check before you call someone else out.  you can feel free to go ahead and start up a thread on sanaa by the way... if that's an issue for you then post up on it.  I invite you to NOT go off on people who don't decide to totally change subjects and opinions when you bring up something totally unrelated.  we were talking about american freedom- not mortality.  I don't know what mortality has to do with obama's citizenship.  no one else does on here either.

I for one don't think public schools are a failure. I personally think that they are one of the greatest indoctrinational tools ever designed by the government.
You can teach them what the Civil War wasn't actually about, then you can switch over and teach them what the Constitution and Bill of Rights doesn't say, or you can choose just not to mention either document.
If your done with those subjects, then you can teach them about how we all came from monkeys, and songs about Obama.

How true. I battled with the teachers/facilty when my son was in middle school on this issue. I finally had no choice but to pull him out and put him in a private school.

I have to agree that they are using the schools more for indoctrination than education.
