Removing forearm on '94 Marlin???
« on: December 10, 2009, 02:15:29 AM »
I started to take the forearm off the (new to me) Marlin to refinish it and, hmmmm, I took the little metal bracket off but the wood hits on the hanger preventing removal ???.  Do I need to take the whole shebang apart or is there (I hope) a shortcut?
I did the buttstock, stripped it all off and just put a tung-oil finish on it.  Looks great!
thanks in advance!!

The magazine tube must first be removed from the rifle, before the forend will come off.

By just taking the clamp off the end of the barrel or taking the receiver apart?

On most there is a screw holding the front of the magazine tube. When you get the front end free it will come off. The rear end is not fastened, it just floats.

Yup, just unscrew the screw on the front band and pull it out, the tube will slide right out of the forearm.

Thanks a bunch,y'all.  I'll want to take the whole thing apart pretty soon and hose it out.  I just got it last week from a guy who obviously liked shooting it and hauling it around  more than cleaning..... I'll start on the forearm refinish tonight and maybe take it all the way down this weekend.  It shoots great..I believe I've got a keeper.
thanks again.
