Been thinking about and trying to plan for sending my Handi SB2 receiver back to have 4 new barrels fitted.

But is that too many barrels to have fitted in one trip to the "custom shop?"
  (Barrel Accessory Program?)

Is that an ovewhelming number of new barrels that will cause problems and SNAFU's and delays?

If I was able to get all four new barrels in one smack, I'd have everything I wanted or needed for that receiver!

Thanks for any inout or sharing your experiences.

You can NEVER have too many barrels so as long as they have the barrels you want in stock I'd say go for it. If they're not in stock it might be a long wait.

Get em all. Sell whatever you don't like. At some point, having many barrels is a pain. By the time you scope em and buy dies/ammo, having a dedicated receiver is not much more $.

I'd call first and make sure they have what you want.  If they don't it could be a long wait.  I prefer to scout the classified for what I want, and then put the barrels on their own dedicated frames and stocks.  The more frames you have the better chance of getting a perfect fit.  It also eliminates the risk of putting a high pressure barrel on a SB1 frame.  The other advantage is it no longer alters accuracy by swapping barrels.

:) I agree with the above advise.  A 30-30, a 45-70, a357, could all probably be successfully swaped around in one frame.  But IMHO barrels like 30-06, 270, 25-06, etc., need their own designated frames in order to maintain top accuracy.    :)   Jim

Much like everything else firearm related you can't have to many. ;D

But I would like to know if ordering that many would jam up the works also. :-\

The most barrels that anyone has placed on one order is 13 IIRC, but that was at Gardner, I'd like to think that Ilion would be no different.  ;) Fitting fee of $20 per barrel, $17 shipping per firearm.

They don't have a custom shop, he's referring to the accessory barrel program.  http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.asp
