GPS for Hunting

Any recommendations for GPS to use while hunting.  Topo is a must.  Price -  reasonable under $300.  Any such thing?

I have a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx and it works fine for me.

The base map in the memory of most handhelds is such a large scale as to be mostly worthless. To me bells and whistles just make the main function harder to use. Almost all models are way better than the first generation equipment, they catch the satellites faster and have less problem with trees, and they use way less power. What you need is something that will mark a position and then take you back to it. Even the old machines would take you back close enough to let you find your vehicle or dead deer, the newer ones are just about good enough to take you to a particular underwater tree for fishing. They aren't quite that good yet, but they are getting close.

The Garmin Rino series has topo and starts under $300 but the topo models are about $500.
I have the plain model.  It has a radio in it.  If you have multiple people with them they will mark you on the other guys map.
I just keep a topo map in a pocket.
The other reason you want to keep a map is heavy woods with double canopy will block the signals.

Zeeks:  I think victorcharlie's recommendation with the addition of Map Source US Topo software is a good recommendation.  If money is an issue hold off on the software until you can afford it.  If you want to spend more money check out the 60Cx and go up from there.

This is a good package.

This a better deal from Wal Mart.  Buy the mapping software as an extra.

I find Garmin's Topo USA lacking in detail. It gives a general idea of the terrain but it's not very accurate. It's better than nothing but carrying a topo map is a good idea for detail. That said if you're going into an unfamiliar area you should have a compass and topo map anyway.
