Bream bait

I just received  a book from my daughter for my birthday(59 years old Wendsday). Anyone ever use mini marshmellos for bream bait. I love to fish bream in a pond at my oldest daughter's home in Louisiana. Have caught them on every thing imaginable. From pieces of cloth to toilet  paper balls but never marshmellos. Help out my mind if anyone has tried it. I will but won't tell unless it works!!

I can't say that I've tried marshmallows but in an over crowded farm pond most anything will catch bream. As a boy 55 or so years ago on such an over crowded pond I used little yellow flowers I pulled at pond side for bait and caught them as fast as I tossed the line back in. But then I caught several on a bare hook as well.

More recently at my own small pond we use a bait from Wal-Mart that looks about like a super tiny marshmallow really and has about the same consistency and it works just fine. I'd say as long as they are small enough for the bream to eat they'll work.

That's not the name on the bottle we have but it's likely the same stuff.

I think what GB is refering to is Berkley Power Bait nibbles. I use them alot crappie fishing, I will put one on my jigs.

The mini marsmellos I saw at Walmart, are too big for the tiny mouthed Bluegill in my pond.  Do they make them any smaller?

The Power Bait was $4.19 for a tiny jar.

They make "crappie nibbles" in very small sizes.  The kind I buy are about 3/16" diameter and yes they work well on bream and crappie.

I have use the regular store sized marshmellows. Just take a sharp knife (SHARP) cut on a flat surface to size needed. About in six pieces. White works good for me. Can snack on bait if not biting!!!    Don't forget to wash hand before or marshmello's taste like raw fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zacharoo for $1.69 a package that'd make more bait than I've got fish. 

I may try it though.  Why not cut up the marshmellows in the kitchen and bagging them up in a small sandwich bag.  That way you can fish 'n' munch with no worries.

I do. Put 2 small bags. I also cut up the different colors in there. Green works ok too. Eat one bag and fish with second only if you don't need the second bag for later!!! All depends on the bream. Cat fish like them also. My wife's cutting board works ok as long as I don't tell her I am cutting fish bait.  That way it can be done in the kitchen.

a couple good ponds I have access to we use whole kernal corn straight from the can, just stuck on the hook under a bobber.  Works great.  Tried Berkley fake worms and maggots w/o any success.  Bread balls( use fresh bread) work good too.
