Just a reminder.
Tred Bartas "from tragedy to triumph" episode will be on versus, FRIDAY DEC 18 at 10:00 PM EST.
For those of you that dont know who he is or what has happened recently, I encourage you to watch this episode.
Here is the updated interview with him.
http://www.versuscountry.com/hunting-and-fishing-articles/Exclusive-Interview-with-Tred-Barta.aspx

I have heard the name TRED BARTA for years, I only recently found out who he is & have only seen a handful of his episodes but am very inspired by him to hunt as traditional as possible.
I have great respect for anyone who takes up the challenge of going out & hunting game, big or small, with a long bow, wooden arrows & stone points.
In my opinion, If you go out in the field with the intent to hunt traditionally with stick & string, weather you harvest an animal or not, you are still successful!
You have accomplished your goal & shouldn't have an ounce of disappointment if you don't come back with an animal because you still aren't returning empty handed, you carry with you the knowledge & memories of your experience & to me is just as rewarding.
I speak from the heart on this.

Some may not like Treds personality or style of hunting but he has more fun than you can imagine & thats what is important to him & those who look up to him as I do.

I hope allot of you watch his show & become inspired by his wisdom.

I always thought the guy was NUTS...entertaining...but NUTS.  In truth, I enveyed his enthusiasm and energy...I wish I had the time and $$ to do the stuff he's done...or maybe I do and not the courage to chance those precious few hunts that I can fit into a wayyy too busy life, yet again....may be I just don't try hard enough......

I hope he continues to improve and makes a full recovery....but I still think he's NUTS!

I have never wanted to be in the WHITE HOT SPOTLIGHT.  That just takes away from the experience for me.  Too much like getting PAID, and all the trappings that go with that, versus getting to do what comes naturally to me FOR FUN.

Tred, on the other hand, is no "Shrinking Violet" and craves it.  To each his own.  God Speed on his recovery.

I agree drdougrx, he is nuts!
I also agree with you land_owner, I'm not for the spot light either but I'm not refering to all that.
I see the passion & excitement he has for traditional stick & string hunting & it fuels a fire of inspiration within myself that cant be explained to anyone else.
The only reason he is on T.V Is to share the experience with us & he does so by choice.
It saddens me deeply that he was peralized. I hope he recovers quickly & I pray this doesnt prevent him from hunting any more. I would be devostated if this were to happen to me.
I'm just getting started with my hunting carreer & have most of my life still ahead of me.
Best wishes to Tred & his family & friends.
HERES TO YOU TRED!!!

I don't care for his style, but it is entertaining. No one ever wants something bad like this to happen to someone, no matter who they are.
Now, after saying that, remember he is a tv personality of a hunter. we really know zero about him.
One thing I know, I've talked personally with 2 Canadien outfitters who have had direct contact with him. One lost his outfitting license due to an illegal kill. Barta is out hunting for one person only, himself. The stories I heard, and I have no reason to dispute, put him in the same class as all spotlight-hungry, thrill-seeking, do-anything-to-anybody, I'm above-the-law, screw-all-you-little-folks guys.

I know, I know...I wasn't there, but the guide who was now looking for another job was pretty convincing.
I'm a pretty untrusting guy when it comes to anyone on tv or in the media..."hunters" included.

I dont see how a guide loosing his license is any fault of a hunter, any hunter!

Barta is out hunting for one person only, himself.

yeah, that makes PERFECT sense... because everyone I know that hunts only & specificly hunts for others! ::)

WHAT! ???

We get it dude- you have a mancrush on barta. Get over it. He goes out and wings a bunch of arrows with a longbow at big animals, I havn't seen him make a kill shot yet. Maybe God is telling him he should learn how to shoot better?!

LOL  :D ! yup, Its called hunting! ;)

I'm not saying he's the greatest in the world, I just think hes inspiring that he hunts how he wants & doesnt give a D@#% what judgemental people think about him.
I've seen him take a caribou & a few deer. Thats about it. I havent watched his show much, maybe 20 episodes over 3 years. The last one aired on versus, he flung over 100 arrows at a migrating flock of crane, he only hit one & it only hit its leg, but thats a moving target the size of a football. He was still successful in that he went out hunting the way he wanted & came back with the memories of the hunt & a possitive attitude as aposed to most other guys on shows who admit defeat & go home dissapointed because they didn't get to harvest an animal.
Its pretty hard to shoot a long bow accuratly. try it some time.

This is all I'm saying,
I bow hunted this year for two months, sept/oct. every weekend & a day or so mid week, every week. I shot at 3 bucks hiting the 3rd a little far back on a quartering away shot. I didnt find him until a month ago torn up & some one cut his head off & took it along with my arrow that was still in him.(we dont have that bad a preditor problem so the body was mostly there but had a clean cut at the neck) Thats how I know someone took it so dont ask the stupid question of how I know!!!
I searched high & low every day I hunted that area an hour each day & then some after the close of the season to make sure he wasnt still alive suffering, because I am an ethical hunter & thats what we do. I have no dissapointment in my failure to harvest an animal to put in my freezer because I was incredibly successful on every hunt of the season in that I learned somthing each time, saw at least 1 deer a day & went home with new knowledge & a smile on my face.
Ya, it sucks I couldnt find my deer in time to harvest it properly But it happens & I have no regrets, because I hunted the way I wanted!
the hard way, the fishman way! LOL ::)

If you hunt any other way than the way you want, your only shorting yourself.

I wasn't there and will not discuss it anymore, but I do know the guide said don't shoot, not a legal bull..shot was made, moose was killed. Barta and the cameraman both testified that he was told to shoot.  Responisibility falls on the guide in those cases, no matter what.  His anger was undeniable.
That's it..I've already spent too much time worrying/thinking about him. Good or bad really has no bearing on me day to day.

a couple years ago in Texas there were some charges filed because a guide/landowner whatever told a hunter/client not to shoot a particular buck and the hunter fired.

I tried to watch the show tonite- only was able to watch the first three minutes. Anyone- TV figure or not who would allow themselves to be videotaped in a hospital bed like that is nothing but an attention whore- I WILL not watch another show of his! Sorry Fish..... I'm sorry for Tred, but to use his medical condition for attention is wrong.

Yeah I noticed that & didnt watch the rest of the show either... I expected different from that show.
He is kind of a bad actor. I looked past that before when watching his show & saw a fun experience that I want to try.
