With one exception I like it all. Rap Crap, I can not stand that. Don't really call it music, just talking to a tune.
I used to say I hated Country, and at the time I did. It reminded me of some horrible times as a child. But today it has sort of grown on me, especially since Sky has gotten into it. He spent a summer working with a bunch of Plumbers and they all listened to country. After a while he decided it was not bad. So now Sky listens to Country a lot.
When I was a kid my Dad played mandolin with a Blue Grass group. Mom and Dad were Opry fans from the word go. Mom and Dad would drag me to the Opry almost every Friday and Saturday night. Don't know if any of you were ever at the old Ryman Auditorium, but the seats were plain old wooden church type seats. No cushions, just hard wood.
Now here I was a little five year old kid, and after 8PM all I wanted to do was go to sleep. If I became fussy Mama would slap me silly, and tell me to shut up. I would eventually fall asleep on the benches, from shear exhaustion. Then when we got home I would usually get a beating for acting up. This lasted up till I was about 14 years old. I hated going to the Ryman, it was a miserable experience for me. So I grew up hating Country music, because it reminded me of that portion of my life.
As lionhunter can verify, being a kid around our Mother was not an enjoyable experience.
My favorites are Tchaikovsky, Roy Orbison, Cher, Donna Summers, Michael Jackson, 5th Demision, George Jones, Commodores, Johnny Cash, Boots Randolph, Red Foley, and Tennessee Ernie Ford. Oh there's lots of others but those are my favorites. One of my favorite Movies is Disney's Fantasia. I love the music in that movie. I often put it in the Dvd player just to listen to the music when I am home alone.
