redhawk in .357
« on: December 16, 2009, 01:31:10 PM »
Years back, Ruger made a Redhawk in .357. Always thought that with all that metal around the cylinder holes, it had to have been the strongest revolver ever made. Never got a chance to shoot one, and wondered how the accuracy was. Just wondering if anybody has ever shot one? gypsyman

I still have one that I bought back in 1984.  After getting hooked on pistols again, I finally pulled that thing out of the nightstand after not firing it for about 10 yrs.  I added a 4x scope to it last year in hopes to take it out for short range deer, and like most guns I own, it's more accurate than I am.  It is the strongest built .357 revolver I think ever put on the market, this was probably the reason it didn't stick around...too heavy to do much with.  Some guys say to stay away from them on the used market because they say people would load a little too hot and use it to experiment with.  Until last year, I only shot factory loads because I didn't start reloading until about 3 yrs ago.
