So I just brought home a new Ruger Hawkeye International in .308, very excited to use it. I have a Leupold VX-II 2-7x33 that I would like to mount. On Ruger's website I watched the little scope mounting video which stated that the standard supplied rings (#4 and 5) would fit 32-42mm objectives. So... I very foolishly accepted that this would be the best fit for my rifle and threw away the new ring boxes, only to find out that despite my scopes 33mm objective, the lowest ring set up (#3 and 4) would be the best way to go (still with enough clearance).
Problem: I now need to send back my UNUSED #5 ring for an exchange, but without the box, the factory will not accept it.
I am wondering if any of you guys out there have a box for a #5 blued ring that you might be willing to send my way to save me the $37.50 ??
I am not at all trying to pull anything shady over on Ruger (great company) but would really like to make up for MY mistake and get the rings I need. Please reply or PM me if you have one, and I can send you some $ for shipping.
