'As police chased Raymond "Ready" Martinez through Times Square on Thursday, the street hustler and aspiring rapper fired two shots, holding the gun sideways "like a character out of a rap video." According to the New York Post, Martinez's side grip caused the gun to jam, enabling police to shoot and kill the suspect. I haven't figure out why the do any of the chit they do, including that rapcrap. Of course, i don't waste too many brain cells thinking about it either.

It's an important technique. Don't tell them to do otherwise. This is done so that they can miss their targets more frequently.

What puzzles me about the whole deal is why in the name of "sweet mother of pearl" did NYPD say that the "rap grip" caused the jam and that led to the perps getting shot. I'd buried that deeper than my hopes and dreams, heck, I'd have publizied the lethal nature of that particular grip. Or at the very least said nothing and allow "natural selection" to continue unabated.

Hairtrigger: You made me laugh. Couple of years ago, some guy tried to rob a store in South Fairbanks. When he pulled his gun out of his pocket, and used both hands to hold the gun, his pants fell down to his ankles. He bent over to pull his pants up the clerk hit him over the head with something. Holding his pants up with his left hand, and holding his right hand with the gun to his head he ran out the store. When outside the police gave chase. The guy needed both hands for some reason to do something with his gun. Again his pants fell down to his ankles, and he fell on the concrete. Gun flew out of his hands. Police walked up, jerked him to his feet, drug him to the police car leaving his pants on the sidewalk. They processed him into jail in only his boxers. What a target.

We had a couple of them show up at our range last year, with a 9mm handgun and a 9mm carbine. The tall one was showing he short one how to shoot....holding the pistol sideways, he shot at the ground about 20' ahead, and hit it every time! Then the little guy took the carbine, placed the stock on TOP of his shoulder, and put his eye against the scope........it was painful to watch. If he had had a real gun instead of a 9mm toy rifle, he would have lost an eye....

Thought about letting him shoot my 45-70, but I didn't want my scope mounts broken off.
