independent husband vs. republican wife
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:28:57 PM »
My wife and I have had many conversations on independent vs. republican. To make this short, she thinks we need to rebuild the republican party rather than to vote independent and have the worst ones get in office.  Not getting anywhere with her most of the time, but today I asked her why the republicans have not hit the air waves and made a big stink about the house passing a 158 billion dollar jobs bill that almost nobody knows about if they are standing up for us conservatives. She did not have an answer for that and seems disgusted as I was.  I think I got through some, not enough, but some.

So why is it that something this big, another 158 billion bucks of our tax money being spent on government growth, not creating any jobs, most of the money in the last stim package is just sitting there as a slush fund for re-election and pay off puposes.....not met with some screaming republicans bringing all this to light?  Now I have to investigate and see how many republicans voted for this bill.  This is not big enough news for the state controlled media, but I would think some republican leaders would have spent their money to get this message out if they were serious abnout us conservatives supporting them.

A vote for an independent is a wasted vote.  I think the Republican party doesn't need rebuilding.  Palin in 2012.

At this point, I will vote for the candidate that supports the constituation and has a plan to limit the powers of the federal goverment back to its constitutional powers.  I'm very much a Ron Paul supporter right now, whether he is running as a republican or as an independent.

Sarah Palin, has said, "If the Republican Party can't get it's stuff together, I'll run as an Independent".

Ron Paul, Allan Keyes, Sarah Palin, Bob Barr maybe.... there are options.  The republican party can be reformed, it'll take some pressure though.

Nothing is gonna change. Oh sure the dumocraps might lose power awhile and the repubs take over but they are both owned by the same super rich elite cabal so the only difference is in how fast they move but both are for the most part taking us to the same place.

There are some republican senators and congressmen at least from the south that seem to be less involved and do vote against most of the bad stuff but since damn little good stuff ever gets to a vote there isn't much they can do it's kinda like swimming against a strong tide.

Keep in mind that no political party is ever going to be perfect for everyone.  The Republican Party is just as diverse as the Dumbycrats, but not as disciplined.  I'm not sure there are any votes that can be taken for granted on the Republican side, however, there are some who you can pretty well count on voting with the left.

The Dumbcrats and the lame stream media would just love it if an independent party emerged.  It would virtually guarantee that the libs would stay in power, or at the very least it would make their lives easier.  Divide and conquer would be ready made for them to take full advantage of.  If anything, the right should be trying to fashion a party that would attract some of the disaffected Dumbycrats and not so willingly scuttle the only Party (Republican) that stands a chance to nudge things back in the right direction.

If your conviction is to vote for an independent, do so. It's your vote, and you use it as you wish, not as somebody else wishes you to do.

The Federal Government is too out of control and corrupt to change.
I think the system will totally fail, and the states are the only hope we have of surviving.

I think the problem with trying to form a party that will draw some of the "Blue Dog" democrats to the republican party would be a very moderate republican party that is somewhat conservative fiscally but totally liberal when it comes to social issues.

I actually think the time could be right for the emergence of a strong constitutional conservative party.  More and more people are getting tired of the same ole same ole in both the democratic and republican party, yet they continue to be told by the media and others that if they vote for a third party, they are throwing their vote away.  Well, if enough people vote for the third party, that third party candidate could possibly win this thing.  Otherwise, the republican party needs to get back to its constitutional conservative base.

The dem party is fragmenting too ... they held it together and backed O but many are unhappy with how that worked. I'd be curious to see if they'll put their infighting aside for a reelection or go for a new coalition.

TM they only fight amongst themselves prior to a general election. They put aside their differences long enough to keep the Repubs out while the Conservatives splinter, pout, boycott, don't bother to vote.
