planting moving again? and renovating
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:24:06 AM »
was up to one of our larger private owned gunstores weds, and was talkingto the owner  of finfeatherfur in ashland ohio ,  he told me the sales rep for remington told him  when he ask why he couldnt get  NEF  or H&R products in , hes had nef shotguns on order for months  and handi rifles he ended up with hardly any for the CHRISTmas  sales.   he was told they are gearing down for  a renovating of the machines again , for this line , and possibly move some to another locating this year ???? take it for what it is he told him what he  had heard was rem wants to focus on the spartan  line of singles ( probobly a better profit margin?) and possibly  start putting the remington name on the H&R as marlin tried back when??so as mike told me  if its true or just a rep coverin their buts cause stock hasnt been coming in to them guess we  will find out in a few months?:

Since Remington doesn't even import the Russian made Spartan line anymore I'd say that rumor is pure BS.

Partly true, but it already happened, they moved to Ilion and have new machines, H&R will be making their own barrels later next year instead of standing in line waiting for Marlin to make them!! ::) Remington dumped the Spartan line, so that's a BS too, try and find them anywhere on the Remington site, you'll find them in their history only cuz they are!! Read the firearms sales stats thread and you'll see how H&R ranks among other firearms makers.

I never said dealers didn't still have them in stock which is what that is, it's The Gun Souce, not Remington. I confirmed with Remington they are no longer importing them a couple months ago.

I don't know exactly when they quit importing them, but I checked in September, at that time they were still listed on the Remington site in the centerfire rifles to promote sales of existing dealer inventories, but no longer do.  ;)

Creative language is part of being a sales rep. Perhaps the story changed a bit also when told by the owner

Sorry to hear about the spartan line. I have a spartan (baikal izh27) 12 ga o/u which I like very much. Not very fancy compared to most o/u's but for the money is a good value. Oh well not the first gun I've owned which is an orphan. I also have austin/halleck muzzleloader.  ;D

I have one to and love it. It's what I take at the end of Deer season when I'm thinking of shooting Deer, ot quail, or turkey or Rabbit...

They aren't fancy but like most Russian guns, built like a tank.
No biggie that Remington let them go, they're available anyway.
he fellow that owns the farm next to ours, just retired as a Remington Rep. He loves the Spartans too and thought Rem was crazy for dropping them.
