I always say never put a scope on a new springer until you put a box of pellets through it. This always saves a lot of scopes from failing. New Piston guns need to wear in a bit, before they settle down, and smooth out. This is why you will read about scopes failing on new out of the box guns.
Some, so called are gun rated scopes will fall apart on guns like the Webly patriot, and Crow Magnum, and on other rifles. That Webly I had was a great and very pretty gun, but it made my teeth hurt!!!!!!!!! That's how bad the virbration was! The actual recoil was not bad at all, but those vibes!!!!!!!!
I have used no airgun scope on well broke in piston rifles with no problem, and other times they zero shifted every time I shot them.... I used an old Bushnell custom 22 scope in 2 to 7 power with a 7/8 tube, and it held up fine on my FWB 124 for years and never zero shifted.
So you pay you money and take your chances, but you can always improve your odds, by breaking your rifle in first.
