405 win - ruger #1 - which bullet?
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:15:18 PM »
Looking for a plain-based bullet for 100-200 yard match work (offhand and bench) using Ruger #1 in .405 Winchester.

Options?

And, what throating work should be done?

Probably best would be a long SP.8, which is a very graceful spitzer, by cast bullet standards, and accurate.  It would be best for you to comunicate directly with me, by email, at LBTisAccuracy@Imbris.net  so we can work out the details for throating, which must be based on what the rifle already has.  i.e. a throat slug as it is now, then throat with a reamer that available, or have one custom made, then I'll make a bullet that will make pleasing targets.
