Are 7x64 barrels circa 1983?
« on: December 20, 2009, 05:25:24 PM »
Been looking for one. With the dies, $ ain't too bad. But how likely is it that the receiver is original to the barrel? Barrel seems to have a very light contour, judging from the gap between the barrel and the scope rail.

The barrel says SB2 but that frame ain't an SB2. There was no such thing as an SB2 in 1983. I'd say someone put it together. I don't think I'd shoot the 7x64 on that frame.

 Hey guys. I sent the auctioner a warning about the barrel versus his reciever. Here is the reply he sent back.

Quote
Lonny, You raised a good question so I called H&R and asked-- the reply was that this gun was made in 1981 ( didnt think it was that old) and it left the factory as a 7X64 brenneke and is perfectly ok to use. So with that thought I will sell it without worry Have a great holliday, Tony

That's totally bogus, there was no SB2 in 1981..... or 1983 when the frame was made for cripes sake!!  ::) Consider the BS flag raised!

AX = 1983

The bad part of the whole deal is that someone is going to buy it and shoot it. :-\ I'd hate to see someone get hurt because of someone else's bad information.
