Not likely considering the Health Care Bill is days away from passing the senate.,,,voted it out of committee at 1:01 a.m. this morning.

I just called both my senators and told them to vote NO.  The R will vote No and the D will vote Yes of course.  And the R will be up for re-election next year and we will be helping her with fundraising and with going door-to-door.  The D was just elected last year (it's a sad story) but we will remember and will certainly work for his opponent when the time comes.  As anyone might guess, the R is a strong supporter of gun rights but the D not so much.

I dont claim to know much about what it takes to get some Health Care for the Average American But I dont see any reason why we cant have the very best at little or no cost .

I am now 65 years old a Viet Nam Veteran, been working all my life, own a home etc., just like most of what used to be the middle class. We've been sending money to other countrys in one form or another for many, many years, fighting wars all over the world and the list goes on & on. We are working more for less real $$$ than people in the 50's/60's.

They have told us (Tax Payers )that the cost is too high Blah Blah Blah for years. Why cant we have what should be our piece of the pie? The People in Congress sure get their's!!
I spent a lot of money on Guns, Wild Horses & Wilder Women but I guess I just wasted all the rest!

At first guess I would think that this is a formidable portion of the reason.

All I ever hear people talk about is the cost of war.   Few ever consider that wars actually create a lot of jobs and drive new technology.

1)  Wars employ a lot of people.  First off you have thousands of soldiers collecting a government pay check who otherwise would have to find work in the private sector.   Then thousands more working for private businesses and government agencies that supply equipment, food, clothing, weapons, vehicles, planes, fuel, ammunition, and on and on.

2) Speaking of materials and equipment.  How many of you use a GPS either in your vehicles or when hunting or fishing?   Do you wear boots or clothing made with thinsilate or gortex, are your travel bags, packs and or gun cases made from ballistic cloth?  Do you have a computer?  Do you hunt with a firearm?  These are just a few examples of common products many of us use that were initially developed for the military to fight wars.

Yes wars cost lots of money, and many Americans benefit from those cost in fact their livelihoods depend on it.

A good start would be to get the private insurance companies truly competeing. Real competition lowers costs and improves quality of everything..be it cars, carpets or cookies. Then, get the trial lawyers out of the mix..institute tort reform.

The prez says billion$$ can be saved by eliminating waste and fraud in the way govt reimburses doctors and hospitals.

  Hey; here's a novel idea;

 A) Introduce insurer competition..across state lines.
 B) Legislate real (not phony) tort reform.
 C) Eliminate the waste and fraud in the way govt pays the doctors and hospitals.

Do these three things over the next two years, when you show the people you are genuinely serious about fixing the problem, then come back to the people and I just bet they will listen and believe better. Unless and until these three things are done, most people having observed govt over the decades will figure it is just more govt BS & "promises" which only last long enough to put us much deeper in debt.
The obvious fact is, everything points to another big govt rope-a-dope and flim-flam...whenever we see the big push for congress to vote it through without even reading it.
Now, suppose you go to Happy Harry, the used car dealer and you decide you like that little sports car he has for sale.

Happy Harry hands you a 20 page contract...saying, "just sign right there on the dotted line"

You say; "OK, but I want to read this first".

Harry says; "No need to read it, just sign..take your car and you can read it later if you like".

Now, tell me ..Do you think congressmen are eminently more honest than Happy Harry?

Do you think more can be hidden in a 20 page document than in a 2,000 page document ?

If you answered both of those questions with a YES, we can see how the Democrats still have some backers out in the real world...

Great ideas Ironglow, and if implemented they would go a long way toward fixing the high cost Health Care insurance. Our government doesn't care about that though. This garbage they are shoving through is just a stepping stone for them to eventually have a one payer system and that one payer is government themselves. Its the way they do everything that people don't want. Just a drip at a time, until they eventually have full control over something.
The Dems know they are going to lose seats over this but they don't care. They know in the future they will get their seats back again. Then they will get their full control over health care. Too many people in this country can't see whats coming and really don't care whats coming, just so they get theirs.
