Pics of The Concealed Handgun You Carry "the Most".
« on: December 21, 2009, 04:35:25 PM »
I am interested in pics of what you carry the most, not how many options (other handguns) you have to carry.
We all have more than one, but I would like to see what you carry day in and day out if you have pic of it. I'm interested on how it's equipped, sights, grips, caliber, actions, whether revolver or auto, modifications if any ect.
I have a Smith 686 I just bought, but this one, the Smith Model 60 is my everyday, everywhere pistol. The action was slicked up by me, and turned out sweet. No spring replacements but, instead a "real" action job. The grips are Ivory polymer by Ajax, with a Tyler T-grip. OLD SCHOOL. It gives plenty to hold on to with good control, is slick and does not rub when carried inside the waist band, which I do, but will also fit in a pocket.
It is 357 mag, and stoked with 125 grain jacketed hollow points, and is a 5 shot with plenty of one shot power.

The smaller piece in the picture is always available. A 636 with micro grips, relief for the speed loaders. The North American Arms 22mag can be put behind your ear disguised as  a hearing aid. The American Derringer in 45colt is a really cute little unit, however it may be the most useless gun ever.

My most carried is the 636. My constant companion was an AMT backup. I heard rumors of problems however mine never failed to empty the magazine.

For me, I rotate the weapons regularly.
The PPK rides in the car as regular as any--there is always two.
Carrying outside the car is a dress situation--still about equal though.

I knew I should have taken that course in photography!!! Well, I am to busy to take pictures and don't know how to post on here anyway, that's the wife's department.  ;D  ;D

CCW pistols are Glock 30 (45acp cal) and Glock 29 (10mm)

Now I'll start with the Plan Jane Ugly GLOCKS, that just go BANG BANG BANG everytime you pull the trigger.
Model 20 & 29 10mm, model 20 (9 x 25 Dillion), model 22 & 23 .40cal, model 21-SF & 30 .45acp. Now have a model 31 .357-Sig. Those model 17 & 19 are gone gone gone~~~NO Glock 9mm!!! How did I get soooo many GLOCKS??? :o

Sigs Sauer... P-226 .40cal, P-229 .40cal, P-239 .40cal and 9mm Luger.

William the Tyler T-grip is older than you and I. When Colt and Smith put frame fitting grips on their revolvers the need for a forward filler for the larger handed police officer caused it's invention. Although it makes for a smaller overall size to the revolver it is just right for fitting the hand, and good control under recoil (notice the finger grooves).
It has been for the most part, lost in the technology rush. Simple yet effective.

They haven't been totally lost in the technology rush.  Tyler is still very much in business and selling T-grips as well as some of the nicest trigger shoes on the market.

I didn't mean that they were out of business, I meant that the younger shooter is for the most part UNAWARE, that they ever existed, and even the older guys like me and William. Some have never seen nor heard of them. William is a case in point, and he, like me, is not a spring chicken.
I have seen the trigger shoes when put on revolvers "walk up the trigger" and stop the action from cycling. It is one product they make, I don't care for. It does however make the trigger pull "seem" lighter by displacing the pull weight over a wider area of the trigger finger.
I like the T-Grip because it reduces the  overall size of the revolver, and still give plenty of grip control, and is WAY CHEAPER than over priced custom grips.

I have a T-grip on my model 38 Bodyguard. It slides in and out of a pocket much better than neoprene grips.

dr, the ivory polymer are slick and don't rub the skin, and T-Grip although old fashioned to some, are just right for my big hand. I will probably do the exact same thing to the 686, as I had one before set up the same.
I have an old Iver Johnson 38 S&W that belonged to my Cherokee Great Grandmother. I look and feel of this old pistol and realize that folks back then didn't buy stuff they didn't really need. They bought what worked, and the old 38 worked.
Kinda like the "plow handle" Colt peacemaker. Nothing fits most hands better than that grip.

I know what you all mean about the T-Grips.  I have two, black and gold.  I use the black one with a black hip grip on my Mod 37 and it is the slickest carry rig you ever saw!

I don't carry mine much around our small town but when I do, or the few times I carry in Anchorage, it is my 2.25 SP101 with the hard polymer crimson trace grips and the Speer 135 gr GD 38 Spl load or sometimes a 357 home load with 140 Rem hp. Sometimes in the spring when bears might be around the neighborhood, but I want to be concealed I'll put  357, 180gr Fed castcores in the 101.  With all the gun play in Anchorage these days I should carry more when there but its such a hassle going thru the airlines with a gun.

In the woods I'm not concealed and its usually my 41 mag 657 mt gun with Corbon or other brand heavy hard cast 250 -265 gr with the 265 preferred.  Soft rubber Crimson Trace grips in a nylon chest holster.

It gets terribly hot here so in the summertime this rides in a pocket in my shorts, stoked with 22mag hollowpoint ammo

If a suit and tie are called for this 686 goes inside the waistband along with a couple of speed loaders in the wifes purse

Currently looking to purchase a Springfield Armory XDM in 40cal and 4inch bbl to replace the 686 S&W for carry

Sorry no pics, imagine if you will a factory stock SIGARMS P239, .40S&W w/nitesites. this is 99% of the time.

However yesterday I got the P225 out for some fresh air. The full size grip sure feels nice, and if this weren't in such nice shape it would get much more carry time. The original K-cote is un marked and I put new grips on it a couple years ago, the sights need replaced as they are getting very dim, but otherwise I just love this pistol.

I carry either a Kel-Tec 3AT or Kel-tec P9 depending or what I'm wearing and where I'm going . I like the Uncle Mike pocket holsters . doesn't look like you have a gun in your pocket and it is easy to draw your weapon, the strip on the side holds the holster and the gun comes out real smooth...... :)

my most often carried gun is a kimber aloy comander. I also have 3 lcp rugers and keep on in each vehicle so I allways have a gun with me even when i dont carry one on me. best carry gun i ever had was a cdp kimber with a officers grip frame and a commander barrel that i foolishly sold. I bought a 3 inch one later but didnt care for it and sold it too. But the kimber cdp is a hard unit to beat for an out of the  box carry gun.
