Jerky donations for wounded warriors
« on: December 22, 2009, 06:34:56 PM »
Hello everyone,
As most of you know, I'm a medic in the Army.  I receive no greater joy than taking care of wounded warriors.  I'm a member of the Welcome Home Soldier Program at Scott Air Force Base and we welcome home all the wounded warriors that transition through there. Frequently these soldiers are flying in just to be placed on another flight getting them closer to their destination. During these times, the wounded warriors are not fed meals. Instead they rely on donated snacks to hold them over until they can get to a place where they will stay long enough for a regular meal.

Beef jerky has always been a hit with our military service members. It remains stable at most any temperature and has a long shelf-life. Besides that, it's just downright tasty.  ;)

I ask that anyone who can, please donate any of your homemade beef, deer, or other jerky that you have to spare.  Even small amounts go a long way and are greatly appreciated.

All donated jerky may be mailed directly to me.  Please PM me for address info.  I will do my best to get some pics posted of some of the folks who this will go to.

BTW, they like hunting, gun and car&truck magazines too. ;)

Thanks in advance on behalf of our wounded warriors.  :)

Happy Holidays!!

-Dinny

Good on ya Dinny. ;)
It's a great thing you're doing.
I'd be happy to send some venison jerky but I got outsmarted by the deer this year. :-\
How about some of that "Damn good beef jerky"??  That stuff is pretty good.
I'll buy some of that and send it to you if you PM me with your address. ;)

Guys, we can do nothing better especially during this season than to support these fine young men and women.
Do what you can for them.

Necessity is the mother of invention.  Here's my email address. Anyone, anywhere can contact me and I will send them my mailing address.  Thanks for all the attention and for spreading the word.

strikemedic75@yahoo.com  Feel free to share with trusted individuals. ;)

We can't thank you enough. I have seen too many times where wounded warriors feel as if they're alone.  This helps them to see that they aren't.

Thanks, Dinny

How long does homemade jerky last?

A good long while. I have had some jerky last for months, as long as it stays dry and airtight it shouldn't mold.  ;)

Thanks, Dinny
