anybody else waiting for a Bullberry barrel??
« on: December 23, 2009, 02:49:42 PM »
Ordered a 22-K Hornet barrel from Bullberry in mid-April.  Still waiting.  Called them twice, and all seem incredibly nice on the phone.   I suspect that they had a big response to their pistol barrel sale.   On the other hand, I have had great service from MGM.   A few days ago I shot a 100 yd 3 shot group that you could cover with a dime with one of their 6 TCU barrels.  Needless to say, I was very pleased!!

Yea, I have purchased three barrels from them since their pistol barrel sale.  The first barrel took about 6 weeks, the second barrel took a little longer, the next took several months, and I'm still waiting for one.  I think they got overwhelmed with orders, plus they've had a hard time getting the extractors from TC.  I suppose they don't make their own extractors, and they've had to wait for parts.

I've been very pleased with my barrels so far, but it is an awfully long time to wait.  I'm in no hurry for the barrel that I'm waiting for, but it's been quite a while now.

The charge hit my account 3 weeks ago, so I am hoping for a Christmas present of an Encore 8" 45 Colt in the mail today. I don't mind waiting, for the prices they are selling these barrels at. When this one arrives I'll be ordering another.

Thanks for all the replies.   Am glad to hear that I am not the only one playing the waiting game.   It's Winter in Mn now, so I really wouldn't shoot it much now anyway.  Hoping to put the "big hurt"  on a coyote soon with the MGM 6 TCU.   Merry Christmas to all.

I lot of folks can't handle the wait and that's fine. They ( Bullberry) could be more clear about it but don't seem to care too much which seems a little surprising to me as I'm always seeing them getting bashed on a number of forums over this. Still the quality at the price point can't be beat. You just have to decide for yourself if the wait is worth it. Hint: order the barrel you need badly from someone else and order a couple "nice to have/don't need right now" from Bullberry.

When the sale first came out I ordered two Contender barrels in SS, a 357 MAX and 44 MAG, both 12" bull. and it took several months to get them. I'm happy with the barrels as with hand-loads the 5 shot groups are 1 ragged hole at 25 yards off a rest. This using either LeadHeads cast, or Hornady or Remington Jacketed.  Good enough for me. I had some money left in the kitty for a Contender frame that never came in, so in July put it on a  Contender 40S&W and a 32-20. Spoke last to one of the girls 2 weeks ago and it looks like Jan or Feb. for delivery. True its taking a long time, but I am satisfied with the quality, and the pleasant communications with the Bullberry staff.

As for MGM I got a 308 rifle barrel from inventory in September, had some fluting done to it and received it in about 4 weeks. I am very happy with the looks of the barrel and service provided by MGM.

I'll know more about MGM soon as about a week ago I ordered a Super 16 barrel for my Contender in a 7.62 x 39 with a .311 bore. Nice lady said six weeks. It'll help me play with all this Russian ammo I have laying around.

Only reason I am still waiting (been over 9 months) is that the barrel is for a friend of mine.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

Not sure about the great price point that was mentioned in some of the post.  Best I can tell they are the same price as MGM and I would personally never put up with their way of doing business if I can get it somewhere else for the same price and just as good of quality.

That was me. I've ordered a couple 10" blued Contender barrels: $169

If you point me to the order page to get an MGM barrel at that price I'll order today.

You need to point me to the page to order a Bullberry for that price because when I checked their sight yesterday before making that post I never saw a price like that.

Okay, I went back there just now and saw what you are talking about.  The Stubbie sale.  You are correct, but to compare apples to apples since the stubbie sale is not available in all calibers and lenghts (none of the calibers I want are currently available) I think you need to compare regular prices of the barrels and they are about the same as MGM.  If you can get one of these sale barrels great, but they should be cheap since they are what was left from making other barrels that had their profit also.  But then again the key word is if you can get one!

I won't argue with you Bullseye on the fact that you cannot get all barrels and calibers on the stubbie sale. The selection was better a year ago - that's a long time for a "sale"! I also like long barrels but like shorter barrels enough that the opportunity to pick up a few customs at that price is quite attractive. Furthermore most of the chatter on this thread is concerning the sale. Again, I would never advise someone to go through this process on their first/second barrel or a barrel needed for a hunt however for many of us these barrels represent our 10th, 20th, etc.

Let me say I am also a MGM customer  ;D
