Sir i've shot a few High Point guns over the years that belonged to freinds, but never owned one myself. Now they NORMALLY fire extract feed etc., but every one ive had any experience with DID jam or fail to extract/feed  on occasion. Would I buy one to play with if I got a deal on it? Sure. That being said I also remember "Murphy's Law". (If a thing can go wrong it will go wrong!) If I was looking for a weapon to defend family or myself, I wouldnt chance one of those occasionial mishaps. If you are on a budget maybe post a want ad here. Im sure some of our fine freinds here at GBO have something dependable right up your alley! Also, have you considered a revolver? Would render all of these issues a moot point. Good luck sir!

I have a 40 hi Point handgun. I think it functions well and was well worth the cost. Of course I don't shoot it hundreds of times a week like some folks would.

My C9 is 4 years old and still functions just fine,  as does my 995 carbine.  Hi Points are a lot more robust than you might think.  They're without a doubt the best moderate priced firearm on the market today.

Aside from functioning, the H Points are awfull bulky to conceal too. Think about personal size, and the clothes your gonna have to wear to hide it as opposed to say a Bersa Thunder 380, or 9 for example. A T shirt won't cover that big HP, but there are other affordable non "Caddilac" pistols that it will. It's awfull hot right now. Just sayin.....

You're right,  Hi Points aren't the ideal choice for concealed carry due to their size.  But, there are some that carry them concealed.  In the winter, they wouldn't be hard to conceal under a coat or heavy jacket.  It's just a matter of personal preference.  Myself,  I wouldn't carry my C9 concealed.  But, it's a very good choice for home defense, truck gun, and fun at the range. I also like the Bersa pistols.

How are they for accuracy sir? Say for example, could I bust rabbits with one do you think? Ive put rounds downrange with a coupla HP's, but never at paper. Cans, cantaloupes, plastic bottles w/food colored water. Always pretty close. That kinda thing.

That's kind of what I'm looking for to carry on the tractor around the farm. We don't have armadillo's, We have 'possums.

Better carry a Sig for possums.Anything bigger than a rat rodent, the Hi-point won't do the job. ;D
Actually! I carry my 41 mag for them. Possums tend to be on the large aggressive side here in the NW.
