Cibola NWR Youth Waterfowl Hunt Dec 2009
« on: December 25, 2009, 06:47:25 AM »
This waterfowl hunt was the 3rd annual to help young hunters learn how to hunt ducks and geese. Ducks Unlimited, CWA (California Waterfowl Association), Sprague's Sporting Goods, the Yuma Valley Rod & Gun Club, and many other sponsors donated gear for the young hunters. Older goose hunters volunteered as mentors to teach and call for the kids also. Huge thanks to all who helped make this a huge success.

Camcorder was a Canon GL-2

The local sportsman's club would bring kids out to Crescent Lake NWR every spring for a day fishing. Unbelievable how generous these fishermen were giving up a day, using their own boats and providing tackle bait etc, as well as some prizes. We had casting contests, taught mini courses on fish species Knot tying and stuff like that. After fishing was over we dressed out some of the fish and had a shoreline fry.

Your local Wildlife Refuge would probably be anxious to host wildlife oriented events for kids or novices.
