i believe a few years back they had a voluntary thing where you could bring in a gun and they would destroy it and maybe you got a tax credit or something along those lines just remembering seeing alot of guns melted down

Morton Grove IL passed a local hand gun ban back in the 80's. It was forced confiscastion. People all over that town, ferafull of police action turned in their hand guns. The police chief at the time and the mayor were on the record that you will be procecuted if found to have a hand gun. They got away with that ban until it was recently overturned. Other IL towns followed along with Morton Grove back then and got away with it. DC had a hand gun ban until that unconstitutional law was overturned by the US Supreme court.

Sometimes the foreign invading usurpers can get away with it and sometimes they can't.

My greatest worry is that one of the conservative judges on the Supreme Court were to have a "mysterious" fatal accident. Five guys are the only thing standing in the way of real tyranny.

 i am a realist.. ive done everything i know to get gun owners to form an real united power group...

 after trying to encourage a united organization for a good while now.. im convinced the
gun owners are not going to do a thing,, that would give them power to be respected as say the black power movement has subtly done..that easy chair is just too hard to resist..
 so we are our own worst enemy..
 an large organization would just be to easy of a target to eliminate quickly ,,should they choose.. but
thousands of small locally organized groups all over this land would be a much harder to identify, as target..
 so if you are really so commited organise now. you never gonna get gun owners to aggree on a complicated position.. but all should aggree on one thing only.. to protect our constitution from any aggressive force ..foreign or domestic..that threatens it..to all think with one mind on that one thing..
 even then, the job will be as hard or harder than that ,,that faced the original patriots..
 they ll be turn coats ,,spys an those that point patriots out to protect thier own families..
  is the seed to protect our nation from those that want to eliminate individual freedom from being lost
here.. absolutely it is..but they are counting on our own slack initiative to beat us.. i fear it will..

There are not enough local cops to even come close to confiscation, they would not last a day, they can't even disarm criminals with guns now.

If they do this, it will have to be much bigger than local cops.  Personally, I think they are much smarter than to get local police forces wiped out.
I also really think they know a couple million Americans would put up a fight, and that is a lot of folks with guns.  That's more than the amount of solders going to war.  They will tax us poor, make ammo dry up, and a lot of other things to cut down those numbers.  Time is on their side along with the wealth.

A handful of men beat a very large army once in this country, many people did not fight, they watched...but they were a handful of armed men determined to fight by themselves.  All depends on how bad you want freedom I guess.  Hope it never happens myself.  If it does you make the choice.  Every place will be different too,  the big cities will be different than the country, there would be many battles if this happened spread all over the country.

ive never been big on assault weapons but it may be the time to think about buying one im sure i could hit them with my single shots just need to cut down on the reload guess i'll start looking at black rifles

I rather doubt that they wil come kick in doors and grab your guns. THe way it will be done is, they will tax, ammo and firearms. Also, the limited access to going hunting will also help in lessening the number of gun owners. Gun owners will be slowley squeezed out and no blood will be needed spilt. If they were to outlaw your guns and come and grab them, the local police wouldn't be the ones to do it as there are not nearly enough of them, and probably 50% would not do it. They have been slowly and steadily disarming us for years, under the laws that are "common sence gun control".
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

They will not be trying to they  disarm criminals with guns, They will be disarming The law abiding public And most will hand them over when ordered to. It is what so many of the nit picking laws we have are about. To make you compliant! They usually say it is for your safety, but it is to make you used to following orders.  Like I said most will hand them over, the rest they will kill.

They Are disarming us.. one group / class at a time. The 1968 GCA said felons that had paid their debt to society In FULL could no longer had constitutional rights.

Go through a divorce and your Ex gets a restraining order...  you no longer have constitutional rights.

Veterans Disarmament act ....

The list goes on, they incrementally stop Who can own them, and What they can own. We put up Little to No resistance, most relying on the USELESS NRA to lead the fight, but that is bad business for them.

Absolutely true. "Hey, they were felons! They shouldn't have guns!" - and does anyone speak up?

I've got life-changing, unhappy experience there, which taught me things I never wanted to learn about 'the system' and which have led me to think I may never, never teach my children to say the Pledge of Allegiance - and after a little exposure to the 'justice system' my attitude has gone from a conservative, I-love-my-country guy to, on a really grim day - "F--- America"

Nobody is going to come to your door to get your guns. That's not how things are done. They chip away just a little bit at a time at the second amendment and give either the states or the feds the right to regulate what kind of guns you can own or how many you can own, etc. This is what they did with the 4th amendment right up through the Patriot Acts. Today, the 4th amendment is effectively gone. And, people take it as long as they believe they have some tiny bit of protection left. The vacuous words left on the Constitutional paper are enough to satisfy the masses.

It always amuses me when people think one political party or the other will save them. The conservatives are primarily responsible for the demise of the 4th amendment. They did that by convincing the masses that we were "coddling criminals."  If you have nothin' to hide, you don't need no stinkin' protection from unreasonable searches and seizures.  ;D  Richard Nixon wanted a complete ban on handguns but he knew he couldn't get it so he didn't try. Ronald Reagan gave you the Brady Bill. Conservative courts have chipped away at the due process clauses of the 5th and 14th amendments as well as the equal protection clause. Democrats will chip away at the 2nd amendment and a LOT of Republicans will help them.  It's going to be very difficult to "hide" your guns because guys like Scalia and Thomas, et al have killed your protection from unreasonable searches and seizures. It was the loss of the 4th amendment that allowed them to seize guns in New Orleans after Katrina but the masses don't get it. They don't even recognize that Bubba Bush stood by and let it happen. After the fact, his Admin pushed for the return of the guns but he did absolutely nothing to stop it and he didn't want to stop it even though N.O was under federal [FEMA] control at the time. I'm no fan of the Democrats but no Republican, not even my friends in Congress, and I still have several [on both sides of the aisle], could beg a vote off me.

+1        We the people would have to force term limits on the criminals from both sides of the isle at the ballot box to change things at the Federal level.It will not happen! Republicans in the next election will vote for A Republican of the RNC's choice, and DITTO for the Democrats.Regardless of who is in power, they will chip away at "ALL" our rights, until they are gone. They won't have to kick the door down!

Slim rem 7  Is right. We have seen gun and life confiscation in the history books. The model is set.
Cabin4 I dont believe the man in DC has got his gun yet. The city want allow it while they are trying to decide what kind of gun he can have. This may take forever.
All the SCOTUS ruled on was the 2nd. They said yes you can have a gun according to the Constitution but they left it up to the local governments to determine what kind and when. It was even stated by the city they may let him have a flintlock pistol and that would satisfy the ruling.
My guess is if they wanted all the guns and started tomorrow, nobody would have one in two weeks or less.
The truth is, the vast majority of Americans are satisfied to suck on a beer can and talk big. That is just the truth.
It is evident by the fact we are talking about it. We have refused to get involved and now we have major failure in our system of government.
Get involved now. If it is to late, we have nothing to lose. If not, we can win.
A good place to start would be your local Tea party. Most are working on a lawsuit against the Bozobama care legislation. It is unconstitutional.
Call them, sign up or suck a beer can and talk big. Your choise

It's about the Lautenburg Amendment, which strips those convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence - or who are under a restraining (protection) order for domestic abuse? - of their 2nd Amendment rights.

At the time I didn't think much about it. I should have, and so should everyone on this board. This is another step toward narrowing who actually has 2nd Amendment rights, and towards 'mainstreaming' the idea that the 2nd Amendment rights are privileges, to be revoked at gov't whim.

Yellowtail...maybe this is not so easy to enforce?  Brother in law had the domestic violence thing just before his divorce...cops told him he could not buy firearms, he has bought several since then through regular gun dealers, including handguns. 

Not sure if all systems are set up to flag anything but felonies yet?

Don't know the answer to that, Jim. If he was convicted of any 'domestic violence' offense - and I hate that term, it's 90% political - then he could be in very deep crap, and not know it. Just possessing the, could set him up for a felony. See how it works? Privilege, or right?

Just a 'restraining order' - that favorite tactical weapon in a divorce - doesn't have permanent right repercussions, once lifted - though it may be use by local LE officials to keep you from getting a carry permit.
