been reading here lately
« on: December 25, 2009, 07:16:04 PM »
I have been reading more and more of these threads lately, and seems I am well on my way to being a regular.
4 fused vertebrae l3-s1, 2 bone grafts from the hips and 4 marrow transplants from the hips, as well as arthur kicking around, I seem to be slowing down and don't like it one lil bit.
Along with some kind of breathing difficulty, so far un diagnosed, which I am going to have a serious talk with my DR. about Monday.
since I can't stalk, long range shooting has been the norm, arthur has set in my right shoulder (dislocated several times) so my big rigs are getting out less and less.
I am seriously turning into a handgun only hunter, for anything over 22 bore. The last few times I was out shooting the ar-15 .223 It seems to be saying hello as well.
you guys have had some good tips already.
Thanks John

 Halfbreed

Have you thought about the handgun cartrages? I have been shooting a .44 H&R and just got a .357 H&R(Merry Christmas to me) Both of these shoot like the .223 in the H&R. I have minor shoulder and knee issues and just dont like hard kicking guns. These 2 I really like. But I would call neither long range. I am going to ream the .357mag to a .357maximum. Suppose to be just as mild, with a stronger flight time ;)

You may mention this upon the H&R forum. Now some up there are mule junkies(like to be kicked) Several like myself dont like an abusive gun ;)

Lonny, thanks for the reply and ideas, I have a Savage 116 in 300 ultra, I am seriously thinking about turning it into a 270 winchester. With a brake and possibly a mercury recoil piston, and a heavy laminate stock. I know this may be overkill, but I certainly ain't packin it very far.
I am still interested in long range, or at this point with a 270 moderate -medium range.
Where I hunt/shoot, it is either 30 yards, or 300+ yards.
