I just recently purchased my third H&R gun. I now have a 410, 12 ga Pardner Tracker II slug hunter and my newest purchase ,a .223 bull barrel Handi Rifle in stainless. I found this gun at the local gun shop last week for $179.00 and it came with a sling and Simmons Prohunter 3x9x40 scope. It appeared to be someones truck gun as there is a worn spot on the barrel and the stock was all dinged up. I got it home and took it apart, sanded down the stock and sprayed it with bedliner, cleand it all up and put a new Bushnell 3x9x40 with bdc on it. I shot 35 shots thru it Thursday morning and it seems to prefer the heavier ammo. I thought this would have a 1-12 twist as it is marked HJ (1995 model ?) but after checking the barrel it comes up as a 1-9 twist. The s/n on the barrel lug and frame match so maybe it is a newer barrel on it. Anyway my plans are for a .44 barrel next since they are legal in Indiana now. I also recently purchased a Ruger .44 Mag Carbine from 1979 that was still new.
I'll post pics in the next day are so. I think it turned out awesome with the black bedlined stock and stainless metal work. I'm taking it out for Coyotes this weekend after I get off work.
This is an awesome sight by BTW. I'm glad I found it. Lots of great info.
Also I stopped at the same gunshop Wed and they traded in a .243 with tapered barrel, camo laminated stock with a medallion in it and they are asking $199.00 for it. Looks like new. If I had the extra cash I probably would have bought it too.
Enough rambling for now. Later
