Another NY Guy
« on: December 26, 2009, 01:34:52 PM »
Hello all,

I'm from outside Rochester. I've had a 25 year hiatus from hunting and shooting but got back in it again a few years ago. I stumbled on this forum looking for a T/C Contender site. I'll be lurking around but will post if I've got something to contribute.
Since I got back into shooting and reloading all I can say is What the Heck, I can't even find powder, primers, or 22 rounds. All my old powder cans say Dupont and Hercules on them so I need new stock. At least the old primers still go bang!

bobg,

Henrietta actually, just south of Rochester. I grew up in Amherst, my brother and parents live in Clarence.

Sure wish i could meet some more of the local people. I met spikehorn. He bought a gun from me. Very nice guy. Youthpastorjon runs the youth center about two blocks from me. It is closed during the Holidays but when it reopens i am going to stop and meet him also.

Welcome aboard, if you have trouble finding reloading equipment localy try Midway online. I have noticed that they keep their prices on in stock items and only raise them when higher cost replacements come in. So you can still find some good buys. Good luck. 8)

What a great welcome!
I've ordered from Midway, Midsouth, and Brownells (when I have to.) The trouble is I don't shoot enough to justify the hazmat shipping charges on powder or primers so I try to get them locally. The town fire marshall put so many stipulations on Gander Mountain that they decided not to carry any powder. Beikirch's is where I get most of my stuff but I went Saturday and they didn't have any Lil' Gun, primers, or CCI .22 ammo.

When you can find bulk 22's here they run about $33.00 per 500.  Compare to $9.45 before Obama. 8)

I see you St. Lawrence guys are way up north. My wife & I try to get to Tupper, Saranac, & Placid as often as we can. We've camped & canoed but I've never gone hunting up there.
