Anyone near Ronan?
« on: December 26, 2009, 08:21:50 PM »
I have a good friend that lives there that makes some of the prettiest bows. Dan Toelke is his name darn good guy. I keep telling him one of these days I am going to show up at his house and we are going to chase critters together. I think that I might be able to pull it together year after next. Don't know what we will be hunting. I guess he will tell me ahead of time. I need to know around 6 months ahead of time because your guys tags are so expensive! I would love to chase bears (black) but it is like $350 for a non resident, elk is really salty, but I bet that it is worth it. We don't have that much variety of animals that walk through the woods here. Plus the scenery there will take your breathe away.

Yes Dan makes some awesome bows - http://montanabows.com/cms/

Now whats this business about elk being salty?  Never heard of such a thing, as its probably the best of the venison unless you get a moose down.  You have until March to make up your mind as your non resident tags must be applied for by then.

Remember something, the cost of tags is a bit high, but your paying for an experience and not a guaruntee.  I know many that come here to vacation to get an experience, and regardless of the expense sometimes the experience is worth it because the memories will last a lifetime.

Now I will say, that since living, working and playing here in the Flathead Valley http://www.fcvb.org I have yet to go to another state to hunt.

You don't wanna know what it cost to go over to Hawai'i for our last vacation for over a month.
