Rat cheer is fine. It's a bolt action isn't it?

yep bolt action rifle. Sorry, I know that many of the bolt action rifles had specific forums and I wanted to make sure that I posted in the right area. I was trying to be polite since this isn't my home.....

OK, I found a used one for around 275.00 (3006) metal is very nice. wood has been well used. Where can I find a replacement stock (wood) for it. Would like to find one a schabel forend to go with the german style mauser action.

While it is true we have a lot of brand specific forums the Bolt Action Rifle Forum is never the wrong place to ask a question about a bolt action rifle even if we have a specific forum for that rifle. In the case where we have a specific forum for the brand it or here are both appropriate places.

That would be a long action 98 Mauser action on that rifle and most any stock made for a 98 Mauser should fit it. Those MarkX rifles will shoot very well with a properly glass bedded and free floated barrel channel. Some came with adjustable triggers but others did not. The ones that do not adjust are heavy and gritty. I would/did replace that type of trigger on a 30-06 that a friend has. I used a Bold adjustable but I had to shim under the back part between the tang and trigger to get it to function properly but that was no big problem. I just slipped a thin piece of metal between the action and trigger and when I tighten the front screw on the trigger it held everything in place and works like a charm. With my hand loads this rifle will cut bullet holes at 100 yards.

Can't help you with a Schnabel stock but I have a Boyds that works very nicely for my purposes.   This one is lamninated with some material removed to lighten the stock.  Got it at stockystocks.com - on sale it was about $125:

Yes, a Mark X action I picked up new.

The rest of the rifle is a Boyd stock, Timney trigger, Krieger barrel, 6.5mm-06AI chamber, Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x w/ Ballistic Plex reticle, Leupold rings and bases.  One of these days I will add a Tubb SpeedLock, but for now it is accurate enough that I can shoot clay pigeons on the 600-yard berm.  So far I am 2 pigeons for  5 attempts using a randomly selected fire-form load.  I am hoping this rifle will get me to 100 yards, which I believe it will with the current scope, and beyond.  Ideally I’d like to try some pokes at 1200 and 1500 yards once I get it scoped properly.  (I have a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x AO I’ll be sending back to Leupold for target turrets and a new reticle.)
