My first Iowa buck in 20 yrs
« on: December 27, 2009, 06:36:13 AM »
After 20 years of killing does turing 2nd shotgun season I finally dropped a buck with a noticeable rack.

Nice 9 point. Taken on a friend's farm in Washington county. Clean shot thru the lungs and heart from 35 yds. He staggered about 20 ft before dropping. I was going to pump another slug in him, but he dropped. I'm glad I didn't, I probably would have hit some of the good meat. Cut and packed he was just under 85 lbs of steaks, roasts and burger. We process all of our own.
