Since first owning a Model 83 in 454 I've always kept the gun very clean and lubricated the cylinder pin, the ratchet and rear face, and the front of the cylinder where it bears against the frame with a thin coat of Tetra gun grease. It seems to do a very good job of making the gun easier to clean and cushioning the cylinder from metal on metal contact during recoil. Does anyone have a different approach and if so what is it? The question is prompted by a thread I read yesterday about an FA owner unsatisfied with the price FA charged him for repairing the timing on his gun.
