Rear Peep for 94 top eject
« on: December 27, 2009, 04:21:53 PM »
My friend has a top eject 94 30-30.
He would like to put on a Lyman Peep sight.
His 94 has 2 small screws, horizontal relation, that appear to be in the perfect spot for one.
Do they have a specific model that would use these screws?
Trying to avoid drilling and tapping with screws already there.
Midway didn't seem to have one that would use them.

Thanks,
Wayne

Have your friend check the Williams Gun Sight Company online....

http://www.williamsgunsight.com/

They have sights made exactly for those holes.

A receiver sight like Lyman or Williams (or even Redfield if you are lucky enough to find one or have one) are what those two little screws are for.  Those screws are merely plugs for holes drilled and tapped for receiver sights.

The proper side-mount peeps, that fit your rifle's factory prep holes,  are the Lyman 66A and the Williams FP-94/36 or the Williams 5D-94/36.

MidwayUSA & Brownell's both usually carry them, but are sometimes out of stock, especially during hunting season or around the Holidays.

When you order a peep, don't forget to also order (or make) a rear barrel sight dovetail slot filler blank - because the rear barrel sight should be disappeared to give a clean sight picture through the peep.

FWIW, There is a pictoral/tutorial thread here, or in the leverguns section, on making a filler blank fron an old rear sight base.
