I need a scope recommendation for a Bushmaster Varminter.

This is a flat top AR-15.

I was thinking approx. 4-16 power.

Any suggestions will be helpful, I am new to ar-15.

Can't break the bank but do not want junk either.

Nothing tricky about scoping a flattop! I think you can find what your're looking for in the $300 price range from Bushnell, AO and the whole nine yards! Tasco and Simmons have fine scopes in this price range as well.

Went with a Bushnell Elite 4200, 4 x 16- 40mm with AO. Very nice scope, hope to be mounting it on my new Varminter withing a week. Thanks for your reply.

I found the deal thru my local gun club for a total of $320 with shipping.

You may be suprised, but the best deal in optics is BSA. Very clear, sharp image. I have a 6X24X40 on a 6.5 swede. I paid $109.00 for it new. It also has AO.

Granted it's too much scope for an ar15 but BSA makes good optics.

I am personally going to get a 4X20 scope for my Bushy. It comes with the handle mount for $40.00. I can't remember the brand name right now.

I have seen the BSA (I think it is called the platnium?) It is a great scope...but you are correct I feel it is too much for the AR-15. I have had great results with my Bushnell and do recommend it to others.
